Fridays Bet of the Day sees me travel to Ireland and there’s a game from each division that catches my eyes.

St Patrick’s Athletic vs Dundalk

🇮🇪 Premier Division

⏰ Friday 28th May, 19:45

3rd placed St Patrick’s host Dundalk at Richmond Park on Friday evening. The hosts have had an impressive start currently lying in 3rd and only 3 points behind leaders Sligo Rovers. Dundalk meanwhile have had a disappointing season so far lying in 7th and 11 points off their hosts.

The goals have been flowing in St Patrick’s games of late with their last five games seeing both sides score including their last two at home. St Patrick’s are the only side this season to score in all 13 games scoring 20 goals. St Patrick’s have conceded in 8 of their games with 4 of their clean sheets coming against the sides who are the lowest goal scorers in the league and who average under 1 goal per game.

Dundalk come into this not in great form winning one of their last five and losing 5-1 away to Bohemians last time out. Big problem for Dundalk this season is their inability to keep clean sheets. They’ve conceded in 12 of their games this season keeping their solitary clean sheets against the league lowest scorers Waterford (6). They have however only failed to score twice this season and have scored in all 7 of their away games

Cabinteely vs Wexford

🇮🇪 First Division

Friday 28th May, 19:45

4th placed Cabinteely host bottom side Wexford in Dublin on Friday evening. The home side are currently positioned in a promotion play off spot at the moment and only a point off 2nd placed UCD. Wexford meanwhile are rooted at the bottom and still remain pointless.

Cabinteely come into this in good form winning 3 of their last 4 games. Cabinteely have won 3 of their 4 home games at home this season (Galway were awarded a 0-3 due to COVID) with only league leaders Shelbourne coming away with any points. Cabinteely have won all four games against the current bottom four including a 1-2 win in the reverse fixture.

After playing everyone in the league once, Wexford have a 100% of losing every game. Six of their defeats have only been by a one goal margin but a combination of not being able to keep clean sheets and struggling badly to score goals is why they are in the position they are. Wexford have only managed 2 goals this season and they were both at home meaning they’ve failed to score in all 5 away games.

Bet of the Day

Fridays double has a selection from each division in Ireland. In the Premier Division I fancy goals at both ends between St Patrick’s and Dundalk. In the First Division I’m expecting Wexford to keep up their 100% losing record and for Cabinteely to collect all 3 points.

  • St Patrick’s Athletic vs Dundalk btts
  • Cabinteely to win
  • Double pays 2/1 (BoyleSports)
