Football Bet of the Day: Stay in Iceland for Goals on Tuesday

Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me once more stay in the Icelandic top flight, and one of the fixtures in particular appeals to me for goals.

Two clubs separated by five points and five places in the Besta deild karla meet in Reyjkavík on Tuesday evening as 11th-placed Fylkir play host to 6th-placed HK in a fixture that has the potential to be a high-scorer.

Fylkir have scored 22 goals across their opening 15 league matches, with 16 (73%) of them coming in front of their supporters. Rúnar Pall Sigmundsson hosts have found the back of the net in all eight of their league outings on home soil, striking at least twice in four (50%) of them – and will look to trouble a HK side that boasts the division’s third worst defence, conceding 31 goals across their opening 14 league assignments.

HK have scored 26 goals across their opening 14 league matches this campaign, with 16 (62%) of them coming on their travels. Ömar Ingi Gudmundsson’s visitors have made the net bulge in 12/14 (86%) of their league contests this season, striking on multiple occasions in 5/7 (71%) of them on their travels – and will be confident of adding to their tally against a Fylkir defence that is yet to register a clean sheet and conceded a league-high 35 goals across their opening 15 fixtures.

Over 3.5 Goals has banked in five of Fylkir’s previous seven Besta deild karla fixtures in front of their supporters – and given the same has landed in 4/7 (57%) of the Kópavogur-based visitors league tussles on the road – I’m happy to have a little punt on their to be a minimum of four goals between these two defensively vulnerable sides.
