Today’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me take on the dreaded World Cup Qualifiers and in particular Group F. The Danes will look to take another step closer to qualifying, meanwhile elsewhere I expect goals in Vienna.

Austria vs Scotland

🇪🇺 World Cup Qualifier

⏰ Tuesday 7th September, 19:45

Scotland travel to Vienna to take on Austria at the Ernst-Happel Stadion on Tuesday evening.
The Scots currently sit in third position, a point and a place above their opponents. However, they remain two points behind Istrael who currently occupy the play-off spot.

After winning 0-2 away to minnows Moldova, the Austrians followed that up by being thumped 5-2 by Israel. That now means Austria have conceded thirteen goals in their five group matches, with their only clean sheet coming in that win against Moldova. They do score goals though, scoring nine goals so far, with only group leaders Denmark shutting them out.

After a shocking first half performance against Denmark which ultimately sealed their fate, Scotland did defeat Moldova but could only manage a paltry one goal to down Saturday’s ‘Bet of the Day’. That did earn Scotland their second clean sheet of the campaign with their other coming against the Faroes. That goal against Moldova was their eighth of the campaign with only Denmark shutting them out.

Denmark vs Israel

🇪🇺 World Cup Qualifier

⏰ Tuesday 7th September, 19:45

The top two in Group F meet in Copenhagen on Tuesday evening at the Parken Stadium. The hosts have won all five group games and are five points ahead of the visitors.

Despite dominating the whole match against neighbours the Faroe Islands, it took an 85th minute goal from Jonas Wind to finally secure all three points. That made it five wins from five for the Danes after beating Scotland 2-0 at home the game before. Denmark have scored an impressive seventeen goals in those games, including eight at home against Moldova. Denmark are still yet to concede a goal keeping clean sheets in all five victories.

After winning 0-4 away to the Faroes, Israel followed that up by thumping group rivals Austria 5-2 in Haifa. That’s now fourteen goals scored by Israel with Erin Zahavi still their main marksman. Israel do generally struggle on their travels though losing four of their five games in qualification for Euro 2020 before losing to Scotland on penalties in the play-offs. Three of Israel’s last four victories on the road have come against sides ranked outside the top 100.

Bet of the Day

It’s a crucial game for both Austria and Scotland and with both sides needing a win, I can see there being goals. The previous meeting finished 2-2 at Hampden and we should see at least two goals in Vienna. Denmark will look to keep up their 100% record and defeat an Israel side who generally struggle against the better sides on their travels. Denmark won the corresponding fixture in Tel-Aviv 0-2.

  • Austria vs Scotland over 1.5 goals
  • Denmark to win & over 1.5 goals
