Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into the German Bundesliga and I like the look of goals at both ends. To boost the price up a little, I’ve decided to add in a cards angle.

Augsburg vs Mainz

🇩🇪 Bundesliga

⏰ Wednesday 6th April, 17:30

Two sides with different objectives in the Bundesliga meet in Bavaria on Wednesday teatime, as Augsburg host Mainz at the WWK Arena. The hosts are currently in 14th, three points outside the drop zone, whilst the visitors are 10th, six points outside the European places.

Augsburg bounced back from their 3-2 defeat away to fellow relegation-rivals Stuttgart by defeating Wolfsburg 3-0 on Sunday afternoon. Markus Wienzierl’s side have collected 19 of their 29 points at home this season and come into this losing just two of their last 11 at the WWK Arena (W5-D4-L2). Augsburg have found the back of the net in each of their last 10 matches in the Bundesliga, with the Fuggerstädter scoring in each of their last 12 at home. Augsburg have the fifth-worst defensive record in the Bundesliga this season and have conceded in 10/13 when playing at home. Augsburg have been carded in 23/27 of their matches in the league this season, whilst their opponents have been carded in 24/27.

Mainz followed up their 4-0 thrashing of Arminia Bielefeld by coming from behind to take a point away to Gladbach. Bo Svensson’s side have struggled on their travels this season, with only bottom side Greuther Fürth collecting fewer points than the eight Mainz have collected. In fact, Mainz have failed to win any of their last eight away from, losing six of them. No side has kept more clean sheets in the Bundesliga than Mainz (9), however, just one of those have came on their travels. Mainz have scored in 22/27 of their Bundesliga fixtures this season, including scoring in nine of their last 10 away from home. Mainz have been carded in 25/27 of their Bundesliga matches, including in all 13 away, whilst their opponents have been carded in 23/27.

Bet of the Day

Augsburg secured an impressive win over Wolfsburg at the weekend and they’ll look to steer themselves further clear of the relegation zone as they host poor-traveler’s Mainz. Augsburg have lost just two of their last 11 at home, scoring in each of their last 12 at the WWK Arena and they should get on the scoresheet against a Mainz side that’s winless in their last eight on their travels and who’ve recorded just one clean sheet away from home all season. However, Bo Svensson’s visitors have only failed to score five times this season and given they’ve scored in nine of their last 10 away from home, I can see them scoring against an Augsburg side that’s conceded in 10/13 at home this season. Given that the hosts have been booked in 23/27 of their matches this season and the visitors in 24/27, I’m happy to add in both sides to receive a card alongside both sides to get on the scoresheet to boost the price up a little.
