LA LIGA kicked off on Saturday but we have to wait until tomorrow to be reintroduced to a couple of VIPS.

Saturday tips didn't come in but in the Daily Record I predicted first goals for Daniel Sturridge and Robin van Persie – so that helped cover some losses – and I also put up a first-scorers Lucky 15 featuring big guns van Persie, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Radamel Falcao. It pays around 140-1 – so one down three to go.

The return of La Liga had me wondering how much profit you'd have made backing prolific pair Messi and Ronaldo to score first or just score in all games last season – and I was shocked by the results.

The dynamic duo netted 106 goals between them but incredibly, according to oddschecker, you'd have made a loss backing them every week due to the restrictive prices.

Messi netted in 34 out of 47 games and scored first just eight times. Average scorer prices were just 1-4 and he was around 6-4 to break the deadlock.

So putting a tenner on Messi to score every week would have resulted in a £45 loss and a £270 deficit on him to hit the opener.

Ronaldo found the net in 32 out of 50 matches and scored first 12 times.
His average odds were 1-4 and 7-4 so a £100 loss on anytime goals and £170 deficit on first scorer.

They are amazing stats and shows you have to be selective when backing the pair.

But I wonder how many people will be put off taking both on Sunday with Messi 3-10 (Coral) to score and 13-8 (Ladbrokes) to score first at home to Levante and Ronaldo 4-11 (Coral) and 15-8 (Skybet) respectively against Real Betis.

Falcao makes his competitive home debut for Monaco after scoring away last weekend and is 3-1 (William Hill) to net first against Montpellier and 4-5 (bet365) to score.

A treble on three first scorers pays just under 30-1.

My Big Hitters treble has a 100 per cent record in the Record with two out of two – and this weekend's tip is Monaco, Real -1 and Barca -1. It pays 2-1 at Titanbet.

Messi faces real competition now for first goal with neymar. I think falcao and ronaldo will score first. I backed falcao a few times for first goal at atletico and he delivered every time bar once that I backed him

Also took the three of them as last goal scorers just as a bonus if it comes in. Gone mainly with the three of them as fgs tho

Had a feeling messi would let this down. Think Ronaldo will get first goal
