HANDS up all those who were gutted when the lights went out at Queen of the South in midweek.

Ross County were one of my standout picks to collect three points in Dumfries and led 2-0 when darkness descended over Palmerston not for the first time this season.

So even though we were on the way to a win the bookies (correctly I suppose) voided win-draw-win bets on the match and handed us stakes back.

On Saturday it's the turn of Cowdenbeath to visit Queens and with the game being played in daylight hours at least it will finish.

Beath and County are battling it out to avoid a relegation play-off and I reckon the Fifers will pick up three points against an outfit who seem to be playing without focus.

Queens, who are set to lose their manager and most of their first-team squad at the end of the season, have conceded 14 in their last four games (including the unfinished one) while Beath's last two away matches have been 2-2 draws at Raith Rovers and Dundee.

Jimmy Nicholl's men are fairly streetwise opponents and I hope we find them overpriced at 11-5 with boylesports.

Weekend early pick

Cowdenbeath
