Viktor Gyokeres next club betting odds

Ruben Amorim has now been confirmed as the new Manchester United manager, which means that odds on the Portuguese manager being joined by talisman Viktor Gyokeres have now been made available.

United are currently the front-runners to secure the Swedish striker's signature.

Signed from the relatively humble backdrop of Coventry City in the summer of 2023, the Swedish striker has gone from strength to strength under Amorim. After being pivotal towards Sporting’s incredible title success of 2023/24, he’s not let up, and has already managed 23 goals in all competitions this season.

With Manchester United suffering goalscoring woes themselves, a swoop for the 26-year old could be on the cards.

Viktor Gyokeres next club betting odds

Since Ruben Amorim was confirmed as the incoming Manchester United manager, bookies have been constantly shortening the odds of Gyokeres joining him with the Red Devils, and they now stand at 4/1. Despite reports surfacing earlier this month that the Swede had no interest in joining Man United, their odds have continued to fall in the race for his signature, as the January transfer window beckons.

How would Gyokeres fit in at United?

With Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee already at the club, it is tough to know exactly where Gyokeres would fit in. However, neither have had overly impressive starts to their respective careers at Old Trafford, with Hojlund in particular having been injured for the majority of the 2024/25 season so far, and Zirkzee starting only four league games.

On that basis, it would be hard to see the forward as anything other than a regular starter if he joined the club, especially with rumours circulating that Joshua Zirkzee will return to Italy on loan in January. But it isn’t that straightforward…

Transfermarkt estimates Gyokeres has a market value of €70 million, with a release clause in his contract of €100 million. His contract also runs until 2028. With all of Manchester United’s current cost-cutting measures in place, this could make it very difficult for the club to afford his services, especially with under-performing players like Marcus Rashford and Casemiro still earning extortionate salaries at the club.

However, Gyokeres could be exactly the striker United have been missing since Cristiano Ronaldo’s second departure back in January 2023.

The Swede is a proven goalscorer, and possesses the required physicality to match up to Premier League defenders. Such a player is exactly what United need to get them back into the Champions League – a scenario in which they would be able to spend more lavishly on elite talents.

Other options for Gyokeres

Arsenal – 10/1

Due to Gabriel Jesus failing to make his mark with the London club and Kai Havertz moving back to the role in which he struggled at Chelsea, the Gunners are yet to find a true 20-goal-a-season striker.

They were linked with Gyokeres throughout the summer after one year in the Portuguese capital, but a move failed to materialise. Amorim’s departure to Manchester is causing rumours to swirl that Gyokeres will look for a move away. Yet, he has expressed clear doubts over joining United, and may prefer an alternate destination.

Arsenal are outsiders for Gyokeres at 10/1, as Amorim's upcoming debut with the Red Devils appears to have made bookies more certain of a move to Manchester for the Swede. However, it may still be too early to call. With Arsenal still searching for that main man to fill the number 9 role, Arteta's Gunners should certainly not be discounted just yet at 10/1.

Chelsea – 14/1

In what could become a triple-threat battle between the three most successful teams of the 2000s, popular Premier League top-four picks Chelsea have also emerged as contenders for Gyokeres' signature. Despite spending over £1 billion across the last two seasons, the London club have struggled to find a striker capable of nailing down a starting XI spot.

Nicolas Jackson has been in good form so far this season, having accrued six goals in 10 outings so far.

However, as has often been the case with Jackson, his finishing has been called into question. With an xG of 6.2, he has actually underperformed his expected goals, demonstrating that Chelsea could require competition for the Senegalese marksman.

Comparatively, Gyokeres boasts 16 league goals with an xG of 12.2. He also displays xGOT of 12.9, meaning the quality of his shooting is second to none. An eye for goal is what Chelsea may be missing in Jackson, and the Swede has proven he possesses all the qualities of an out-and-out goalscorer.

However, with Christopher Nkunku and Marc Guiu potential picks for the striker position, adding a fourth to the mix would cause even more headaches for head coach Enzo Maresca, who already experienced the ordeal of narrowing down his squad for the season's opening. Thus, Chelsea remain unlikely to sign Gyokeres, with odds providers placing the Blues at 14/1.

Paris-Saint Germain

Although they aren't currently a selection in this particular market, we feel that PSG are another potential suitor for the former Coventry City striker. They are yet to secure a truly marquee replacement for Kylian Mbappe, having deployed a rotation of Ousmane Dembele and Randal Kolo Muani in the number 9 role so far this season.

Gyokeres could be an excellent replacement for the Frenchman who left in the summer to join Real Madrid. A proven goalscoring record and Champions League experience fits the bill for the traditional striker required by PSG, and fans are under no illusion that they have the required funds to activate his release clause.

With their current Champions League campaign off to a rocky start, a January move could definitely be on the cards, assuming the Parisians can negotiate the all-new league phase.
