HEADING to Venezuela in search of goals and targeting a league that's started with a bang.

The initial round of opening fixtures in the Venezuelan Apertura saw match goals significantly higher than the average Primera game and there were real crackers all at good prices – off the 8 games only one saw fewer than 3 goals with match totals as follows 5-1-3-3-3-3-5-5. Not bad at all.

Return to the big time for hosts

Llaneros de Guanare make their first appearance back in the top flight after a couple of years in the domestic Segunda Division and having hit the net plenty last season I've a feeling they'll be wanting to impress on their promotion debut game.

H2Hs are hardly inspiring but both sides' most recent games offer more of a nod to a game that may just hold some value factoring in the above. LdG's last 4 matches (comprising three Copa Bicentenaria and their final Segunda game) saw 3-2-4-3 goals while Merida's own last 9 saw 4-0-5-4-2-2-5-3 and 4 match goals.

For sure, it's not one to go mad on but it might be worth a go at a decent price given the nature of the weekend's outcomes and the fact it is both teams opening salvo for the new campaign.
