MAN UNITED launch their bid to regain the EPL title and they'll want to get up and running quickly against Newcastle.
Alex Ferguson's side are traditionally slow starters – for example opening with a 1-0 home win over Birmingham last season – but with Chelsea laying down the gauntlet with a 6-0 smashing of West Brom they'll want to make a statement of their own.
Newcastle will love and hate visiting Old Trafford in equal measures. Chris Hughton's side will relish a return to the big time after a year's absence but could be licking their wounds after a loss.
Ferguson has plenty of choice, with Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen, Dimitar Berbatov and in-form new recruit Javier Hernandez all vying for a striking berth. Rooney needs to find his form quickly after a poor World Cup and isn't great value at a best 3-1 with Paddy Power to score first. Berbatov is 4-1 with Ladbrokes, Hernandez 9-2 at Bet365 and Newcastle's likely lone frontman Andy Carroll 16-1 at Bet365.
Newcastle will be looking to keep it tight at the start and the breakthrough may come from a deadball so a better shout could be United centre-half Nemanja Vidic. Consider him each-way at William Hill or Betfred.
Backing the unders could be profitable with bodog offering 11-10 on one or two goals. I can see it being 1-0 United (7-1, Stan James) or 2-0 (11-2, Blue Square).
Meanwhile, following Arsenal's 1-1 draw at Liverpool yesterday William Hill offer 5-2 that the big four of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United will end the season filling the top four places – and 2-7 they will not.
With two players sent off at Anfield, William Hill go 8-13 that one or more Premier League games will see three or more red-carded this season and 6-5 none will.
And Hills are 9-1 that promoted trio Blackpool, Newcastle and West Brom will be the three sides relegated this season. Blackpool got off to a flyer with their 4-0 win but West Brom were battered and Newcastle are likely to lose tonight.
