AFTER a quiet Monday it's an action-packed midweek card on matchday six of the Champions League followed by the final round of matches in the Europa League groups.
There's still plenty to play for as clubs try to cement first place with others looking to secure second spot to ensure their passage way to the knockout stages.
Selectabet and I have Monday recorded a bonus UCL Gambla Betting Podcast as we preview and provide our thoughts and tips on matchday six and that includes Liverpool's trip to Salzburg, goals at Chelsea and Lyon and an over 1.5 goals special on both nights. Give it a listen.
Salzburg vs Liverpool (5.55pm)
The Austrian champions aren't here to make up the numbers as they host holders Liverpool knowing a win could see them qualify in a group where no one gave them much of a chance.
They are without doubt Europe's goals kings – 68 goals in 12 homes games, averaging 5.6 goals a match, and in Europe their five games have seen an incredible 27 goals scored (all 5 BTTS and 4 out of 5 over 3.5 goals).
Their young striker Haland has really made a name for himself with eight goals in the group stages and with 28 goals scored already this season he'll fancy his chances of scoring against Liverpool again.
Salzburg don't keep too many clean sheets but neither do Liverpool and sets this up to be a cracker given what's at stake. They fought out a 4-3 scoreline at Anfield and it's difficult to argue a case not to back goals again tonight.
Liverpool are a decent price to win the match in my opinion and I would expect them to collect three points but if they are to do so they'll need to score at least twice as I can't see them keeping the Austrians at bay. That bodes well for goals.
Recommended Bet
- Over 3.5 match goals
- 1/1 (Bet365) (NAP)
Chelsea vs Lille / Lyon vs RB Leipzig 8pm)
Frank Lampard's Chelsea side have a fantastic opportunity to progress to the next round against already eliminated Lille and know three points should ensure they are in the draw for the knockout stages.
Defensively they have struggled this season with just two clean sheets in their last 10 and with 8 of their last 10 going over 2.5 goals, we should see another 3 goals tonight
Leipzig are another side who've been on the goal trail – they can finish top of the group but have a stern test against a Lyon side who also need to win to progress. Open game expected.
Recommended Bet
- Over 2.5 goals double
- 6/4 (Bet365)
UCL goals special
Sky Bet are offering total goals markets at 28+ goals at 5/4 and that's set just too high I feel. Don't get me wrong, it won't be far away but they've obviously learned their lesson from previous hammerings we have given them so they're giving themselves a buffer by adding 4 goals on top of the usual 24.
Instead I'm on all 8 games over 1.5 goals – this will either land or will be one short – again it's hard to make a case for any of tonight's games to see under 2 goals.
Bet365 offer goal time markets so definitely worth some loose change on all 8 pm games to see a goal before 30 mins – its' landed a good 3 or 4 times already in the group stage.
Recommended Bets
- All 8 matches over 1.5 goals
- 9/4 (Skybet)
- All six 8pm matches a goal before 30 mins
- Markets appear inplay Bet365
Hi Greg
With the over 1.5 fhg in the youth league there are 8 matches playing today which games do you fancy for goals?
Games at Salzburg, Inter, Napoli, Chelsea and Dortmund
Thanks Greg and good luck with your bets 👍
Greg mate, hope you’re well! How are things in Perth these days?
Been meaning to ask you this for a while, do you use a points staking plan on your bets? Or just judge it vaguely from your confidence?
All the best mate
I base it on confidence mate – I always place a higher stake on my NAPs then other bets
So for those that do use points that could be 10pts on the NAP and 5 points on other bets
I feel I need to put points on my main bets but I think guys like you and HullShaker operate better without them.
People know you are good tipsters. Points sometimes makes you overthink things and be more careful.
Heading to the office on a foul night. Floods everywhere – if you’re going to the Morton game take your wet suit.
Hey Greg, thanks for all the tips. Just wanna ask when are you starting the weekly accumulation you mentioned sometime ago?
