It's been 58 years since Wales participated at a World Cup, now they're on the brink og qualifying for Qatar 2022 but they could barely have a more motivated team standing in their way.
Ukraine were excellent at Hampden on Wednesday night turning in a performance that was as much about precision at it was about passion.
Fears that they would be rusty, with several members of the squad missing out on competititve football since Russia's invasion of their country, were unfounded as they outclassed the Scots at a packed Hampden Park. Zinchenko and Yarmalenko were excellent going forward and this experienced Ukrainian squad has the quality to hurt Wales in Cardiff tonight.
The bookies can barely split the sides when it comes to qualifying with Wales to 19/20 and the visitors at 4/5. Over the 90 minutes Ukraine are 13/8 with the Welsh at 15/8.
Wales manager Rob Page has a fully fit squad to choose from and the main danger will of course be 5-time Champions League winner Gareth Bale. One team that will be in Qatar this winter are North Macedonia and they should win comfortably in Gibraltar. They're as short as 1/10 to win but with a little bit of imagination we can get almoist even money by taking them to be winning at half-time and full-time as well as Over 2.5 goals in the game.

Georgia are my go to team when it comes to cards. They are serial offenders; absolute lunatics! Georgia have received 2+ cards in each of their last 14 internationals. An incredible record of indiscipline. They even managed to get 2 cards a few days ago at home to Gibraltar even though they won 4-0 and had 67% possession.
In their last 14 games they’ve had: 2,3,3,2,3,6,3,3,2,3,2,2,3,2 cards. So I was pleased when I saw PaddyPower offering 4/7 for them to get 2 or more seeing as they’re 1/4 and 1/3 elsewhere. PaddyPower are offering 15/8 for them to get 3+ cards which I wouldn’t put anyone off seeing as that’s landed 8/14 games mentioned. Nearly 2/1 for something with a 58% success rate is generous.
Finally, tonight’s referee is Italy’s Fabio Maresca who isn’t shy of dishing out a few cards. He averaged 5.1 cards in his 16 Serie A games this season.
4/7 is too short for me personally so I’ve added in North Macedonia to score 2 or more against hapless part timers Gibraltar to make a nice looking double a shade under evens.
Gibraltar find themselves in a tough group and got dispatched 4-0 recently by Georgia. In fact, in meaningful competitions against better opposition, Gibraltar have conceded: 3,6,6,3,5,3,3,7,4,3,6,6,3,4,6,2,3,1. The only time in 18 games where they didn’t concede 2+ was against Mick McCarthy’s Ireland in 2019. Enough said about that.
North Macedonia are a good team (as Italy found out in their World Cup qualifier) and shouldn’t be in league C of the nations league. N. Mac finished 2nd in their recent World Cup qualifying group and should have way too much for Gibraltar. They should score 2 minimum.
