Unai Emery’s men have claimed top honours from four of their opening five Premier League assignments of the season thus far, and they also brushed aside Young Boys 3-0 in Switzerland last Tuesday night.
Wycombe will also be feeling good about themselves ahead of this cup clash given that they are unbeaten in their last four English League One matches, triumphing in their last two.
However, it’s no surprise to see Aston Villa priced up as lowly 3/10 (Bet 365) favourites here, though I’m happy to highlight an alternative offering in the anytime goalscorer market.
Villa striker Jhon Duran can be backed at 11/8 (Bet 365) to score anytime at Adams Park and those odds are simply too big to ignore.
The Colombian ace came off the bench to wrap up the points for Villa against Wolves on Saturday, taking his overall tally for the season to four in six appearances.
What makes that goal return all the more impressive is the fact that Duran has yet to start a game for the Villans this term.
While Duran is earning a reputation for being the Premier League's ultimate supersub, he will almost certainly be named in Emery's starting XI for the trip to Wycombe on Tuesday night.
While the Chairboys will be in buoyant mood for the visit of Villa, they have found clean sheets hard to come by this season.
In fact, Matt Bloomfield’s men have failed to keep the back door shut in five of their six tier three tussles this term, leaking multiple goals in three of those matches.
That defensive vulnerability doesn’t augur well ahead of a visit from an Aston Villa side that will likely have the aforementioned Duran spearheading their attack.
Thus, backing the in-form Villa hitman to make the net bulge in Buckinghamshire is a play I'm more than happy to recommend here at a value price.
