SlipsTips takes a look at Tuesday nights sprinkle of SPFL action, highlighting his favourite fancies from the midweek action.
Falkirk vs Peterhead (Tuesday 19:45)
Falkirk will be looking to return to winning ways in Scottish League One when they play host to Peterhead on Tuesday night.
The Bairns have once again fallen well below expectations this season and head into this game off the back of a 2-0 defeat at league leaders Cover Rangers on Saturday.
Peterhead, on the other hand, continue to reside in the relegation playoff position following their 1-0 defeat at home to Airdrie last time out.
The hosts can ill-afford to drop any more points if they are to launch a genuine push for playoff position and they should have too much firepower for a Blue Toon team that is taking to the field for the third time in eight days.
Despite their struggles this season, Falkirk have shown some signs of improvement in their attacking output under new boss Martin Rennie and their superior firepower could come to the fore when Jim McInally’s men visit the Falkirk Stadium.
Falkirk have struck twice or more in four of their last seven league games and they look a fair bet at 17/20 (UniBet) to repeat the trick against a Peterhead side that have leaked 2+ goals in a league-high 9/11 (82%) tier three road trips this term to date.
Recommended Bet
- Over 1.5 Falkirk Goals – 17/20 (UniBet)
Kelty Hearts vs Cowdenbeath (Tuesday, 19:45)
Kelty Hearts will look to get their Scottish League Two title bid back on track when they welcome Cowdenbeath to Central Park on Tuesday night.
The Maroon Machine crashed to a 1-0 defeat at second-placed Forfar on Saturday, but they still boast a six point buffer over the Loons in their quest for the fourth tier title.
However, Kevin Thomson will demand a response from his team this midweek and a fixture with Fife neighbours and basement club Cowdenbeath may just be what they need to get back in the groove.
Indeed, a pair of back-to-back wins against the two sides positioned directly above them has breathed life into the Blue Brazil’s bid to preserve their SPFL status, but a trip to Kelty Hearts will represent a huge step up in class.
Unsurprisingly, Kelty are short-priced 1/4 favourites but we can get some Even-Money (Bet 365) by backing the runway leaders To Score In Both Halves and that looks like a nice alternative angle of attack.
Kelty have struck either side of the interval in 14 (61%) of 23 Scottish League Two and I’m more than happy to snap up even-money quotes on them repeating the trick against the side propping up the SPFL.
Recommended Bet
- Kelty Hearts to Score in Both Halves – 1/1 (Bet 365)
