For the first leg of my player-based Bet Builder double, I’m backing Davinson Sanchez to be fouled at least once.
The Galatasaray defender is extremely adept at using his body to draw fouls. We’ve already seen that in this season’s Champions League, with Sanchez brought down in each of Galatasaray’s opening three league-phase matches.
Sanchez has drawn an average of 0.73 fouls per game in the Turkish Super Lig this season, while he averaged one foul won per 90 across his five appearances for Colombia at this year's World Cup.
What makes this selection even more appealing is that he is likely to be dragged into plenty of physical duels with Stuttgart’s Ermedin Demirovic.
Ermedin Demirovic To Commit 1+ Foul
The second leg of the Bet Builder is the aforementioned Ermedin Demirovic to commit a foul, which ties in nicely with the Sanchez selection.
The Stuttgart forward leads the line with plenty of aggression and likes to throw his weight around. He has shown that in the Champions League this season, committing fouls against both Slovan Bratislava and Atletico Madrid.
That has been a regular theme in the Bundesliga this season too, where he has committed a foul in each of his last six outings, including multiple offences during Stuttgart’s 4-2 win away at Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend.
His record for Bosnia offers further encouragement, with Demirovic racking up a sizeable 11 fouls across their four matches at the World Cup earlier this year.
If both players start, there’s plenty of scope for Demirovic to foul Sanchez and land both legs of the Bet Builder in the same incident.
