After churning out winners for us all week, Scottish football fanatic SlipsTips shares three angles of attack ahead of Saturday's batch of Scottish Premiership fixtures.
Livingston vs St Mirren (Saturday, 15:00)
St Mirren will look to stretch their unbeaten run to five Scottish Premiership games on Saturday, when they travel to the Tony Macaroni Stadium to take on Livingston.
Jim Goodwin's men bagged their maiden league win of the season in a 3-2 thriller against Aberdeen last time out, while Livingston fell to a 3-0 defeat at high-flying Hearts.
The Buddies will have their backers at 11/5 (Bet 365) this weekend but I'm more drawn to the 7/5 on offer with McBookie for over 3.5 match cards to be shown during this match-up.
David Martindale's hosts sit top of the early-season disciplinary standings, with a lofty 3.14 yellow card per-game average, with two of their last three league games generating exactly five cards.
Saints, on the other hand, have seen five of their opening seven Premiership games produce 4+ match cards, with no fewer than five of their seven fixtures thus far featuring a red card.
Indeed, referee Grant Irvine hasn't been prolific for dishing out cards this term, but I'm prepared to look beyond that here as I feel we have more than enough ingredients for a feisty affair at the Tony Mac.
What's more, the aforementioned card punt has already paid out in nine of the pair's collective 14 Scottish Premiership outings this season so far.
It's also worth noting the same bet would have banked profit when these two sides locked horns in the League Cup at this venue earlier in the season and that only adds to the appeal of siding with the same wager in West Lothian this weekend.
Given that the Lions have collected two or more cards in seven of their last nine outings across league and cup competition, I'll also have a nibble on the 17/20 (UniBet) for Livingston to receive over 1.5 cards on Saturday.
As already alluded to, Livi are the most ill-disciplined team in the Scottish top-flight this term and with that in mind, the above-mentioned quote looks a little too big to me.
Recommended Bets
- Over 3.5 Cards – 7/5 (McBookie)
- Over 1.5 Livingston Cards – 17/20 (Unibet)
St Johnstone vs Dundee (Saturday, 15:00)
Dundee will be on a revenge mission when they make the short trip to McDiarmid Park for a Tayside derby showdown with St Johnstone on Saturday.
The Perth Saints dumped Dundee out of the Premier Sports Cup last midweek before suffering a controversial 1-0 defeat at Hibs last Sunday.
Dundee, meanwhile, remain rooted to the foot of the Scottish Premiership table following last weekend's 1-0 loss to Rangers, meaning James McPake's men are still searching for their first three points of the campaign.
Despite their early-season struggles, the Dark Blues will be roared on by a large traveling support on Saturday in what is expected to be a pulsating encounter and fantastic atmosphere.
With that in mind, as well as there being no love lost between these two Tayside neighbours, I was pleasantly surprised to see we can get some 23/20 (McBookie) on over 3.5 cards being shown during this dust-up.
Hosts St Johnstone are averaging 2.33 yellow cards per 90 minutes, with over 3.5 match cards copping in all seven league games involving Callum Davidson's crew this season.
Dundee, on the other hand, are averaging two cautions per-game, not to mention over 3.5 card backers would have been rewarded in all seven of the Dee's league games to date.
As mentioned, these two sides went toe-to-toe in a hard-fought cup tie less than 10 days ago, with the crime count going through the over 3.5 card barrier on that occasion.
We also have a favourable referee appointment here in Greg Aitken who has flashed four or more cards in three of his last four Scottish assignments.
With all things considered, the 23/20 (McBookie) about over 3.5 match cards also looks like an attractive betting proposition when these two Tayside rivals reconvene in Perth this weekend.
