Both Hamilton and Airdrie will be targeting Lanarkshire derby bragging rights when the pair do battle in the Scottish Championship on Saturday afternoon.
John Rankin’s hosts dropped down to eighth place in the table after falling to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Falkirk last weekend.
As for rock-bottom Airdrie, their miserable season continued when being put to the sword 2-0 by Partick Thistle last Saturday.
Hamilton head into this dust-up as 19/20 favourites with William Hill and I’m more than happy to back the home team to prevail at that price.
Accies have accumulated the majority of their points at home this season, with 13 of their current tally of 18 being secured in front of their own supporters.
Rankin’s team triumphed in their last home game with Queen’s Park, while their three other successes in South Lanarkshire have come against Dunfermline, Partick Thistle and Morton.
On top of all that, Hamilton produced arguably their most impressive performance of the season so far when cruising to a 4-0 win away at Airdrie back in October.
To date, that is one of a whopping 14 defeats that the Diamonds have suffered across their 18 Scottish Championship assignments this season, with their solitary league win of the campaign coming way back on the opening weekend of the season.
Furthermore, Rhys McCabe’s men have come away empty-handed from nine of their 10 last league games, one of which was the aforementioned 4-0 hammering when hosting Hamilton.
With all that in mind, Hamilton represent terrific value at a shade under even-money to emerge from Saturday's Lanarkshire derby victorious.
On a similar line of reasoning to the above, I’m also going to back Hamilton to hit the back of the net at least twice here at 10/11 on William Hill.
Accies have racked up six strikes across each of their previous two meetings with Airdrie this season, not to mention the Diamonds’ defence has been breached twice or more in each of their last four second tier tussles.
