SlipsTips examines the Bet Builder market ahead of Greece’s Nations League clash with Scotland on Thursday night.
Greece vs Scotland (Thursday, 19:45)
Seeking to retain their place in Nations League Group A, Scotland travel to Greece for the first leg of their play-off tie on Thursday night.
Steve Clarke’s side collected seven points from their final three Group A1 games to avoid automatic relegation to League B.
As for Greece, they will be aiming to gain promotion to the top tier following a strong showing during their own league phase campaign.
Over 0 Greece Goals
Greece look well placed to grab at least one goal against Scotland on Thursday night. Ivan Jovanovic’s side scored in five of their six group games, striking twice when claiming the scalp of England at Wembley. The Greeks have proven to be particularly reliable at finding the back of the net on home soil, scoring once or more in 11 of their last 14 outings in front of their own supporters.
That doesn't bode well for a Scotland side that have failed to silence their opponents in nine of their last 10 matches across all competitions, including each of their last six assignments outside of Glasgow.
Vangelis Pavlidis 1+ Shot
Moving on to the second leg of the Bet Builder, I’ll go with Vangelis Pavlidis to attempt at least one shot on goal during this week’s first leg showdown. Across his last four starts for Greece, Pavlidis has registered a combined total of nine shots, scoring twice against England at Wembley.
Furthermore, Pavlidis has also been in blistering attacking form for Benfica this season, banging in 20 goals across his 43 appearances in all competitions this season so far. It’s also worth noting Pavlidis attempted a combined total of seven shots across his two recent appearances against Barcelona in the Champions League.
Scott McTominay 1+ Shot on Target
For the final leg of the Bet Builder, I’m backing Scott McTominay to register a minimum of one shot on target. The Napoli ace has played an increasingly important role for Scotland of late, scoring in 10 of his last 21 outings for the national team.
During the group phase of the Nations League, McTominay hit the target in five of his six outings, including two away from home against Portugal. Thus, the former Manchester United man looks like a prime candidate to land an on-target effort during Thursday’s first leg in Greece.
