Following Thursday night's winner at Celtic Park, SlipsTips shares a Bet Builder ahead of Sunderland’s clash with Leeds in the Premier League on Sunday.
Sunderland vs Leeds (Sunday, 16:30)
Sunderland will be looking to climb off the bottom of the Premier League when they host Leeds at the Stadium of Light on Sunday afternoon.
The Black Cats have struggled to match last season’s form, winning just once in their opening seven league games, losing 2-0 away to Bournemouth in their most recent top-flight assignment.
Leeds, meanwhile, have seen their strong start falter in recent weeks, losing away at Arsenal before being held to a 1-1 draw at home by Manchester United last Sunday.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin To Commit 1+ Foul
For the first half of my player-based double, I’m revisiting a selection that landed in last week’s bet builder involving Leeds and Manchester United.
I backed Dominic Calvert-Lewin to commit a foul, and he duly obliged by being penalised three times. That took his tally to a team-high average of 2.25 fouls per game in the Premier League this season.
A closer look at Calvert-Lewin’s record shows that he has committed at least one foul in all seven of his league appearances this term, including multiple fouls in each of Leeds’ three away games.
Given Sunderland’s current injury and suspension situation, Calvert-Lewin could find himself up against Luke O’Nien, who was fouled after coming off the bench at Bournemouth last week and has also won a set-piece in each of his two Europa League appearances this season.
Brian Brobbey To Commit 1+ Foul
The second half of my double is subject to team news, but the signs suggest Brian Brobbey could return to Sunderland’s starting XI after a spell on the sidelines, and I’m backing the Dutchman to commit at least one foul.
The Black Cats forward leads the line with plenty of aggression and physicality, reflected in his average of 1.80 fouls per game in the Premier League this season. Indeed, Brobbey has been penalised at least once in four of his five top-flight appearances this season, committing seven fouls across his last two outings before injury, including five away to Manchester City.
Leeds’ defensive trio of James Justin, Nico Elvedi and Tarik Muharemovic have all been relatively effective at winning free kicks this season. With Brobbey likely to be in close contact with all three Leeds defenders, there should be ample opportunity for him to overstep the mark at least once.
Together, the two picks combine for a 4/5 Bet Builder that looks good value.
