Two clubs separated by a solitary point in the Premier League table meet at the MKM Stadium on Sunday afternoon as ninth-placed Hull City entertain sixth-placed Brentford.
After winning each of their opening two matches since promotion to the Premier League, Hull are winless in each of their next five following a 1-0 defeat away at previously winless Fulham.
Whilst that’s now back-to-back defeats away from home for Sergej Jakirovic’s hosts, they will take confidence from the fact that they remain unbeaten at home (W1-D2-L0).
Brentford also come into this clash off the back of a loss, as indiscipline cost them in their 1-2 defeat at home to Liverpool – on an afternoon I landed a 5/4 winner.
Keane Lewis-Potter had initially given the Bees the lead just before halftime, but minutes later, Yehor Yarmoliuk got a stupid red card, which allowed Liverpool to turn the game around, before Brentford went down to nine men in stoppage time.
That was Keith Andrews’ side's first loss of the campaign, but they remain winless on their travels, with each of their opening three road trips ending in draws.
How the bookies view it: Brentford favourites
Brentford are favourites to claim their first away win in the Premier League this season, with bet365 pricing a Bees win at 7/10.
Hull are 4/1 outsiders to end their five-game winless run, whilst the draw is 14/5.
Head to head: First-ever Premier League clash
Sunday’s clash at the MKM Stadium will be the first-ever top-flight meeting between these two clubs.
The last time these two met was in the Championship in February 2020, with Brentford cruising to a 1-5 win away from home.
Players to watch: Another card for McBurnie
I successfully backed Oli McBurnie To Be Shown a Card in Hull’s last home match against Everton a fortnight ago, and I see no reason to change my approach here.
The Scottish international has been carded in four of his last six Premier League appearances, and he is 7/4 at bet365 for a repeat.
Predicted line-ups:
Hull are expected to be without Jack Butland,Eliot Matazo, Darko Gyabi, Charlie Hughes, Ilyas Ansah, Nobel Mendy and Matt Targett.
Brentford will be without the injured Joshua Dasilva and Antoni Milambo, as well as the suspended Yehor Yarmoliuk and Vitaly Janelt following their red cards against Liverpool last weekend.
Hull City: Tzolakis, Coyle, Ajayi, Egan, Herrington, Giles, Belloumi, Crooks, Slater, Thomas, McBurnie
Brentford: Kelleher, Kayode, Ajer, Schuster, Lewis-Potter, Sangare, Jensen, Anthony, Damsgaard, Schade, Thiago
Anything else catch the eye?
Brentford are odds-on favourites to claim all three points here, but they remain winless on their travels and face a Hull side that is still unbeaten at home.
All three of the Bees’ road trips this campaign have resulted in a draw – and given the same has landed in each of the Tigers’ last two on home soil – the 14/5 on offer at bet365 for another stalemate appears good value.
