Both seeking to build on their respective Scottish Cup scalps, Airdrie play host to Partick Thistle in the Scottish Championship on Saturday afternoon.
The fourth-placed Diamonds continued their impressive season by securing a well-deserved 1-0 win over St Johnstone last weekend.
Third-in-the-table Thistle on the other hand, romped to an eye-catching 3-0 win at Ross County last Saturday, with the Jags justifying my faith in them to hit the back of the net in the Highlands.
As such, both sides should return to league duty brimming with confidence and that is perhaps why the bookmakers are struggling to separate the pair in outright betting.
However, given that both teams like to get on the front foot and adopt an offensive approach, I’m happy to opt for an alternative angle by siding with Over 2.5 Match goals at 4/5 with Betfair.
Whilst a league-high 12 of Airdrie’s 20 league games this season have gone under the 2.5 goal barrier, the Diamonds nature is to attack so we should see quite an open game when they come up against forward-thinking Partick Thistle.

However, Partick’s proactive approach can be attributed to their habit of regularly leaving the back door open, with Kris Doolan’s side silencing their opponents in just four of their 21 Scottish Championship assignments this season so far.
It’s also worth pointing out that a sizeable 18 of Thistle’s 21 league games this season fixtures have featured three or more goals, including each of their previous two meetings with Airdrie this season.
Therefore, with all things considered, the 4/5 (Betfair) about Over 2.5 strikes at the Penny Cars Stadium on Saturday is a price that definitely represents value in a game that promises plenty of goalmouth action.
