THERE are five League Cup ties – two of them all-SPL clashes.
Aberdeen, Dundee United and Kilmarnock are all short-priced favourites to beat East Fife, Airdrie and Queen of the South respectively and I can't see any upsets.
Craig Brown will field his strongest possible side and Aberdeen look decent value at 4-5 with Stan James minus one at home to the Second Division Fifers. New boy Rory Fallon is 7-2 at Ladbrokes to score first.
Dundee United are 6-5 with Paddy Power to win by two or more goals at Airdrie and have the firepower to do so.
Queen of South boss Gus MacPherson will get a good reception from the Kilmarnock side he used to play for and the Dumfries men are going well after successive wins against Hamilton and Morton.
But those games were at home and away from Palmerston it's a different story for the Dumfries men who look like they're heading for defeat at Rugby Park. Killie are 4-9 with William Hill and Stan James.
The two SPL ties feature Motherwell against Hibs and St Johnstone v St Mirren and I’m going for two homes.
Well boss Stuart McCall is giving the players who lost 3-0 to St Johnstone on Saturday a chance to redeem themselves and I expect them to take it. The Fir Park men are 21-20 with William Hill.
The Perth Saints are on a superb run and confidence must be sky high after winning at places such as Celtic and Motherwell. St Mirren haven't netted in their last three so look at St Johnstone at 23-20 at Stan James.
Recomendations
- Aberdeen -1 (4-5, Stan James)
- Dundee Utd -1 (6-5, Paddy Power)
