WITH just two goals in eight games – and none in the last four – Scottish bookmakers McBookie.com are offering 8-1 Partick Thistle will set a Premiership record of scoring the least amount of goals in a season.

The current record is 23 goals by St Johnstone in 2010-11 (sorry Greg). The Jags travel to managerless Motherwell today and McBookie go 2-1 they fail to net.

McBookie spokesman Paul Petrie said: “Partick Thistle have scored 46 and 48 goals in the last two seasons so you would imagine they will finally find their scoring touch. However, it must be worrying times at Firhill and the game against Motherwell this weekend is massive.”

The firm is offering 100-1 Thistle will beat the Scottish record of 14 games without a goal – set by Stirling Albion in 1981.

Meanwhile, James Fowler is the first mover in the betting to become the next Motherwell manager. The Queen of the South boss has been backed from 14-1 to 6-1 but caretaker Stephen Craigan is the 3-1 favourite.

Ladbrokes have priced what they think will be the highest-scoring match and go:

Greenock Morton v Rangers 9-4
Raith Rovers v Dumbarton 15-4
Alloa Athletic v Livingston 4-1
Hibs v St Mirren 4-1
Falkirk v Queen of the South 5-1

Highest scoring team:

Rangers 8-5
Hibs 5-1
Raith Rovers 5-1
Falkirk 7-1
Alloa 8-1
Livingston 14-1
Dumbarton 22-1
Queen of the South 22-1
St Mirren 33-1
Morton 80-1

Thistle in the last couple of seasons have created many chances but never seem to take them. Tomorrow v motherwell is a massive game early on in the season. Both eat have to go for it. Especially motherwell at home they must be almost a certainty to score

Going against stats, btts an over 2.5 goals 11/8 williamhill

Alanptfc, are you not worried by Thistle’s lack of goals. I can see a nervy 1-0 Motherwell win.

Mr fixit great post again as always was wondering on the Scotland league one DUNFERMLINE ATHLETIC VS. AIRDRIEONIANS
what about over 2.5 goals .The odds are very good both teams do score a lot of goals
    Whats your take on that?

zulu, it’s in my btts treble and there isn’t a lot of difference between taking that or overs. Should be plenty of goals at Dunfermline as usual.

Mrf, lack of goals is a concern but we’ve had spells like this on a few occasions since being promoted then out of nowhere we get a positive result unexpectedly. I do believe this season we will go down, but this game in particular I think both teams need a positive result leading to goals. As long as Stevenson doesn’t start upfront I’m fairly confident.

thanks Mr fixit will be on it
