aberdeenvceltic

THE League Cup tips went well yesterday thanks to Hibs -1, St Johnstone and Inverness as well as first scorers Stevie May and Billy McKay.

I had Celtic to be leading at the interval on one of my lines but I rarely take a chance on a 1-6 or 1-7 shot.

There are four more ties tonight and I reckon the confidene Aberdeen have gained from back-to-back wins will guide them through at Championship side Falkirk.

Saturday's 1-0 defeat of Inverness was superb but I was even more impressed by their 3-0 win at Partick Thistle a week earlier.

The fact Thistle were bullied out of the points at home suggests Falkirk's young side will struggle to cope with the physical presence of the likes of Calvin Zola.

Niall McGinn and Barry Robson are injury doubts and if McGinn doesn't start take a look at bulky hitman Zola to score at 2-1 with McBookie.com. To score first he is 6-1.

Aberdeen are a biggest 21-20 at William Hill while Falkirk, who beat Dundee 3-1 at the weekend, are 16-5 at McBookie.com.

Home advantage should count for everything when Hearts host Queen of the South. Jambos fans have Tynecastle a fortress again this season and only Celtic have taken anything.

Queens' 3-0 defeat against Rangers last week in the Ramsdens Cup suggests they're weaker than last season and I'll be on Hearts are 3-4 with bet365 – they're as short as 4-7 at Ladbrokes.

Motherwell should also see off Championship opposition when they visit Livingston. Stuart McCall's side will be one of those eyeing up a shot at the trophy and are tempting at 5-6 with William Hill. Well have won three out of their last four, with the other a draw at Dundee United, but Livi are unbeaten in two under new gaffer John McGlynn.

The other tie in an all Premier one between Dundee United and Partick Thistle. United are motoring after a slow start and have fired 13 goals in five games – only missing out against Celtic.

Thistle have played some decent stuff this season, winning two out of three on the road and the teams drew their Premiership opener 0-0 at Firhill. There's not much between but I'm taking Jackie McNamara to put one over his former side with the Arabs a best 21-20 at BetVictor.

fao of mr fix it or any of your following what is the difference bewtween a -1 and -1.5 bet? i had a minus 1.5 -2 on chelsea last night which void but im looking at real tonight.

      Mr Fixit 11 years ago

andy, -1/-1.5 is Asian handicap betting so your stakes are split and half refunded if your side wins by one goal. There is no draw with this net. Minus one is a straight handicap bet so your team must by two goals if backed at -1.

U fancy Suarez to score tonight?

Brian, golf the last two days has been good. I play at Clober and try to maintain a 15/16 handicap. On Suarez, I’d like to know how fit is – it’s a long time out – and I’d rather leave him until his next game.

The below looks like good at 10/1

    Napoli -1
    Lazio
    Roma
    Real Madrid -1
    PSG

I know one will do me though.

Saddler if you think one will let you down why not perm any 4 from the 5 and a smaller stake on the full 5 acca

Sorry Paul, didn’t get a chance to see the record yesterday! Was a comfortable win, the last kick of the ball goal went down well! :)

Aberdeen have been slahehed as I mentioned last night, they are now odds on at every bookies (5/6 is the best price)

As i only use bet365, I really need to open up accounts elsewhere especially when there is big difference in prices! In the meantime though instead of lumping on Aberdeen at 8/11, I’m going to play it safer and go with Aberdeen to qualify at 8/15

I fully expect Aberdeen to win but I’m not keen on risking my stake for the return 8/11 is giving me

Also taking Mr F’s Zola tip – score anytime

Birmingham -Swansea tip : Swansea to win

    Birmingham news:

Not eligible for the attacking midfielder Lingard (who scored all four goals on Saturday game against Sheff Wed, on loan from Manchester United) and defender Bartley (6/0, on loan from Swansea). Doubtful is defender Murphy (1/0) while suffering from injuries are Assante ( 0/0 ) Zigic ( 0/0), Novak ( 7/0) and Mullins ( 3/0).

    Swansea news:

Unavailable : Pablo Hernandez (midfielder 3/1), Williams (AM 5/0) and Taylor (0/0).

Swansea boss said: ” It’s the first game in our effort to defend the trophy and has a great significance for us. The memories of all of us is still fresh. The feeling of standing with the cup after victory over Bradford in the final, is unique ” ,so they will surely play to win and retain the cup.

Jay, you can perm your selections so if one lets you down you get a return. For example if you pick six do fivefolds and a sixfold (7 bets).

I quite fancy either Mikael Lustig or Scott Brown to score first goal for Celtic on Saturday. Lustig and Scott Brown are both a huge 28/1. I’m on both already. Out of the two I’d think it would more likely be Lustig but 28/1 for Scott Brown is a big price too. I think Celtic will go out to prove a point at the weekend, take out their frustration on Kilmarnock. Lustig always up there with the set pieces.
