THERE are four matches in the big European leagues tonight – two in Spain, one in Italy and one in France.

I've put together some previews and team news from all four that help you make your selections.

Let's start with Lazio v Udinese. The Romans have been dealt a blow ahead of the game with defender Santiago Gentiletti was ruled out for six months. The Argentine centre-back ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Genoa.

Lazio coach Stefano Pioli will also be without right-back Dusan Basta and midfielder Lucas Biglia. Both players were hurt against Genoa and will undergo tests later this week. Defender Stefan de Vrij is banned.

Sunday's narrow defeat was Lazio's second of the campaign after their 3-1 loss at AC Milan in their Serie A opener and they'll want to bounce back quickly.

Udinese head into the encounter at Rome's Stadio Olimpico on the back of Sunday's 1-0 triumph over Napoli. Danilo's solitary goal handed them their second win of the season to the delight of coach Andrea Stramaccioni.

Udinese midfielder Giampiero Pinzi is doubtful after sustaining a foot injury in training this week.

In Spain, Valencia host Cordoba and will be on most people's accumulators. Alvaro Negredo took part in his first training session with Valencia on Wednesday but this clash will come too soon for the on-loan Manchester City striker.

Los Che go into the meeting on a high with three wins and a draw from their opening four fixtures, including a 3-0 win at Getafe last time out.

Spain international Negredo, who is recovering from a broken metatarsal, should make his debut next month.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side have had little problem scoring goals in his absence with 10 in four games, including three in each of their last three.

Cordoba, promoted from the second tier last season, are still searching for their first win in the top flight after starting with two draws and two defeats.

Espanyol have taken just two points so far but ended a run of back-to-back defeats with a 2-2 draw at home to Malaga – being denied maximum points only by an equaliser three minutes into stoppage time.

Espanyol coach Sergio will be without Paco Montanes, who suffered a hamstring injury against Malaga, although forward Christian Stuani appears to have overcome the blow he took to his right leg.

Getafe are just one point better off than Thursday's opponents and have lost their last two league matches, conceding five goals in the process.

In France, Bordeaux coach Willy Sagnol heads back to his hometown of St Etienne with the teams tied for second place with 13 points apiece.

Sagnol has made a bright start as a club manager, guiding Bordeaux to four wins and a draw from six opening games, and a fifth victory earned at the ground where he started his career would further enhance his reputation.

Sagnol admits he would rather his players had more time to recover for Sunday's game against Rennes but is confident his squad has the necessary strength in depth to cope with the swift turnaround.

St Etienne arguably have a greater incentive to win given they visit Marseille on Sunday. Back-to-back wins would therefore see them take over at the top.

Les Verts are boosted by the news France international keeper Stephane Ruffier has signed a new three-year contract.

Valencia will likely feature in the top tips and possibly Lazio.
