THE two Super Singles I suggested yesterday – Honka and Roma both came in – and I've decided to go with the side that stands out a mile on Tuesday.

I actually mentioned Blackpool yesterday afternoon and a couple of times throughout the day because the price was too good to be true.

When I quoted Blackpool to win at Millwall yesterday they were 17-10 at BetVictor and others. For the purpose of this article I'm quoting Titanbet's odds of 13-8 and it's still attractive.

This is top v bottom in the Championship – a side who have made their best ever start against one who've made the worst possible bow to a campaign under new boss Steve Lomas who did so well at St Johnstone last term.

Millwall look worth backing against until they stop the rot or until Lomas leaves – whichever one comes first.

They were battered 5-1 at home to Derby at the weekend and have won just one of their last 10 league games at The Den – including three lossess out of three this season.

Goals are also a struggle for Lomas's side with one in five games and they've lost defender Shane Lowry who is banned after seeing red against the Rams.

Paul Ince's Blackpool are the surprise side of the season having been tipped by some at the start to be relegated but started with five wins and a draw from six to head title favourites QPR on goal difference.

Of course they won't be there at the end of the campaign but they should enjoy it while it lasts.

They beat Bournemouth away at the weekend and this is an easier game. Unless they think they just need to turn up to win Blackpool will bank the points.

Pool did the double over Millwall last season with Tom Ince scoring three goals. He is 17-10 with BetVictor to net again and I'll be on that too.

Think I’ll have a wee punt on this one as your reasoning is sound…. However the English championship has screwed me so many times its not real!!
Blackpool is defo the value bet but could just as easy end up 3-0 Millwall!!

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Joe, it can’t just as easily finish 3-0 Millwall, not this one. But I take what you say about the Championship.

As a Millwall supporter myself, I would love to know who is putting money on Millwall based on our current form which has been like this ever since last Christmas I believe. Those who are putting their hard earned doe, either need to book an eye test with their optician as the form book is there for all to see or they need an appointment to see a psychiatrist.

Under former manager Kenny Jackett, who was the longest serving manager in the Championship before he handed in his resignation, we went on a 13 match unbeaten run which began at the end of September vs Burnley and ended in December I think against Ipswich where we lost 3-0 – I know that because I was at Portman road.

Other than a home win against Watford, Millwall’s last league victory I believe came on New Years Day against Bristol City.

The arrival of Steve Lomas wasn’t taken too well by many supporters due to his West Ham connections – being ex-captain of the Hammers, and the fact that Owner John Berylson had recruited a manager with little experience. Furthermore, as his only experience of managing a club was at St Johnstone; a second division Scottish club, questions were inevitably raised on whether he had the technical understanding and ability to implement the right tactics and playing style which would see the team playing well and taking the club in the right direction.

Having impressed American owner, John Berylson at interview, he hired Lomas and so convinced he had the right man for the job, he gave Lomas a budget than surpassed any budget a former manager has had at his disposal.

The Northern Irishman swiftly moved into the transfer market to reshape the squad and make his mark on his arrival. The arrival of some pretty decent players such as Nicky Bailey, Richard Chaplow, Lee Martin Steve MacDonald and Steve Morison – One year loan, surprised many Lions fans, and soon enough the cynacism amongst supporters startd to fade and there was even talk about being possible play-off contenders! Ha, we can only dream now.

I’ve realised I’m really dragging this out now but what I want to say is that, despite all the talent at his disposal the guy cannot manage a club, especially at a club like Millwall, in a tough, ultra-competitive league. Championship league. Apparently, many St Johnstone fans believed their rise to success was not due to Lomas but assistant Tommy Wright and given the start he has had in South London, sadly it appears the rumours were true and the guy is way out of his depth.

I wasn’t at Millwall’s humilating 5-1 defeat to Derby at the Den, but I’ve seen the highlights and defensively we are a mess. The midfield is non existent, no one is pressing and putting pressure on the opposition and we keep leaving huge spaces for the opposition to attack in, and that is simply something you just can’t do at this level as you will get punished, especially against a creative and exquisite counter-attacking team such as Derby. Oh, and the amount of goals we have conceded from set pieces and balls just generally being lumped into the box and being headed in etc is just ridiculous. Dealing with corners? I haven’t got a clue whether we are man-marking or zonal marking, players are just ball watching and panicking like headless chickens.

I don’t know what the odds are for Lomas to be the next Championship sacking but if we lose tonight, which I foresee, his time could well be over. He has in fact met with the Owner and Chief Executive this afternoon, which apparently was in the diary for quite a while – not sure I believe that, more like you’ve got three games to get a few points on the table or sling your hook.

Anyway rant over. I’m on Blackpool DNB @ 1.91.

Blackpool to win looks like a steal but I’m playing it safe with the stake return in the unlikely event of a draw.

Dean, brilliant from the heart comments. Its always a bonus to here from actual level headed supporters giving a view on their own clubs. Lomas did actually do a reasonable job in Perth but the Scottish premier league is basically 11 teams, outwith Celtic, capable of beating each other at any given time whereas the Championship in England is a massive step up for Lomas and given the rewards for promotion you will not be given time to build if you are stuck near the bottom.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Dean, I don’t have a problem with your comment but St Johnstone are not and haven’t been recently a second division club. They have been consistently top six in the top flight and Lomas took them into Europe last season where they knocked out Rosenborg before only losing to Minsk on penalties. I agree that Lomas is inexperienced and maybe should have stayed at Saints longer but it’s not his fault he was offered the job and he couldn’t turn down the opportunity. Would you have Terry Butcher who has also done a great job with “second division” Inverness?

  5. dean 11 years ago

Sorry Mr Fixit, having reread your comment, I’ve now foolishly realised there was no adverse reaction from yourself so please disregard my comment made above.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

      Dean, OK no worries.

  6. John 11 years ago

Rangers to score 4 or more is 5/1 with PP, i’m sure it’s bigger elsewhere but surely with the strikers they have it’s worth a fiver of anyones money….or am i missing something?

    • Cammy 11 years ago

John, Rangers have scored a lot of goals and obviously have a stronger side than QOS, but may still be a tricky away midweek cup tie and Rangers have had a terrible cup form under McCoist… I wouldn’t even put money on any SPL side scoring 4 away so I would tread lightly with Rangers doing it.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

John, QoS are a Championship and cup holders, so better than the teams Rangers have been beating easy. Rangers should win but it’s more likely to be by one or two than five or six.

“Lomas took them into Europe last season where they knocked out Rosenborg before only losing to Minsk on penalties”.

Apologies if I sound pedantic, but Tommy Wright managed St. Johnstone when they beat rosenborg; Lomas had left by then.

As a supporter of a team in the poxy championship league the bloke is right it could easily be 3-0 to millwall dispite what the form says, thats the chapionship for ya!
I hope its not as ive got blackpool in a accy

  9. the auditor 11 years ago

this will be a night of upsets

orient v notts county, notts co double chance 5-4.
galatasaray v real Madrid, galatasaray double chance 23-20.
millwall v blackpool, millwall double chance 2-5.
man utd v Leverkusen, Leverkusen double chance 5-6.

  10. dean 11 years ago

That would make a lot of sense Craig

  11. dean 11 years ago

I hope you’re right there The Auditor, however given the defensive display against Derby I can’t see how we’re going to be able to solidify our defence/midfield within 3 days. Good Luck though

  12. theauditer 11 years ago

blackpool aint 17-10 to win for nothing.
something fishy going on with this game.
is Stephen lee playing in goal for blackpool tonight .
    lol

  13. Conor 11 years ago

Got on your single Mr F. Also tried the BTTS markets for the first time!:

Man Utd are looking good tonight, bit gutted i missed out so far.

Man City stats look like they are dominating, if its level at half time I will delve into the in-play markets and see if there is decent value on them

  14. Luca 11 years ago

    Told you millwall would win

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Luca, yeah but you didn’t mean it!

  15. deeky 11 years ago

anyone win a bet tonight???? jezzz tried so hard aswell

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

deeky, nothing much for me. It’s been one of those nights, especially in the Championship, and it’s one reason I’m wary of these cards. Don’t anyone who didn’t fancy Blackpool and of course a dodgy penalty is enough to turn the game.

  16. Eclezias 11 years ago

Blackpool to lose again against Leicester. My super single already for Saturday.

  17. mr g 11 years ago

is this the place to come to give you grief when you have tipped a losing super single mr f ?

no i thought it was a good solid tip myself, lost £50 on it but not to be concerned winning money from our bookmaker friends is a marathon not a sprint,i look forward to tomorrows super single

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

      mr g, it’s up and it’s Arsenal.

  18. mr g 11 years ago

nice one mr f i will have a look at stats line ups etc tomorrow and if i agree the money will be on the gunners

  19. mr g 11 years ago

on first glance the gunners form looks good barring their loss to aston vila but i think these are the games where a player of ozil’s ability is going to be a top signing and most bookies going 6/4 at the moment which should’nt put a too big a dent on the price where everyone starts pouring money on your pick at say just the one bookies

  20. Belfast Beaver 11 years ago
