IT'S still very early days in the season to betting with much confidence but I'm pleased with my picks for this weekend.
Hopefully by the time the Brighton v City match hits our screens we'll be cheering Pep's men to goals on the south coast.
Leeds to score 2+
Both Leeds and Preston got off to winning starts in the Championship last week so something's got to give at Elland Road on Saturday when the two sides meet.
Preston were impressive in their 1-0 win at home to a lacklustre Sheffield Wednesday while Leeds recorded a fine 3-2 win at Bolton in Thomas Christiansen's first league game in charge. They followed that up with a 4-1 midweek win at home to Port Vale proving that there's goals in this team.
Samu Saiz marked his debut with a hat-trick as Christiansen made nine changes to the starting XI from Saturday so it would appear he has some decisions to make ahead of this match. Striker Chris Wood has been the subject of transfer speculation but as long as he's wearing the white of Leeds there's a chance of them scoring against any opposition.
I'm backing Leeds to continue their goalscoring form by netting two or more v Preston.
Barnet v Luton – Over 2.5 Goals
Luton couldn't follow up their stunning opening day win with an upset in the EFL Cup in midweek but they more than matched Championship side Ipswich despite going down 2-0 in the tie.
The Hatters thumped Yeovil 8-2 last Saturday, with five different players getting on the scoresheet, and tomorrow visit Barnet who were held to a 2-2 draw by League Two new boys Forest Green at the same time. The Bees then stunned League One side Peterborugh United in the EFL Cup, winning 3-1 away from home.
So in their last two games both sides have scored a total of 13 goals between them and conceded 7 which would suggest there could be goals at The Hive Stadium. Back over 2.5 goals.
Man City to score 3+
The Premier League was back with a bang tonight and I'm hoping the goals fest at The Emirates will inspire a flurry of goals in tomorrow's live game at the Amex.
Money has come flooding in for Man City to be crowned champions this season and the outright favourites should kick-off their campaign with home win to Premier League debutants Brighton. City have strengthened their squad for the season ahead and should be more defensively stable but they've also an embarrassment of riches from middle-to-front.
Sergio Aguero will be aiming to score in his seventh consecutive away league match and I expect the pragmatic Pep Guardiola may want his side to make a statement on the opening day of the season. They're more than capable of bagging three or more if they're in the mood.
