IT'S a huge day at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership as Dundee, St Mirren and Hamilton battle it out to stay in the league.

Dundee are all but gone after a disastrous season – they sit seven points behind second-bottom St Mirren and are in need of miracles with just nine points left to play for.

Hamilton have been dragged into a fight to avoid the play-off spot and they travel to Dundee knowing they need to better St Mirren's result at Motherwell or could be sitting second bottom come 4.45pm.

It should be a fascinating afternoon and it's where I'll be focusing my attention with plenty of betting opportunities.

Dundee vs Hamilton (3pm)

Dundee will likely be put out of their misery as even a rare victory may not be enough if St Mirren win at Motherwell. It's been an absolutely shambolic campaign for the Dens Park side. They've lost nine in a row and blew their slim chance of survival last week as they couldn't see out a win against 10-man Motherwell.

Jim McIntyre's record since he took over is even worse than Neil McCann's and today should be the final nail in the coffin as they prepare for life in the Championship.

I've seen plenty of Dundee this year and they create chances, they really do struggle though to convert them and are defensively weak. It's easy to see why they are in this predicament.

Hamilton have been Hamilton this season – written off by all but yet again look like they may survive. They won't be banking though on Lanarkshire rivals Motherwell doing them a favour against St Mirren and need three points just as much as Dundee and St Mirren.

It's hard to fancy Hamilton though, their away form is brutal. They've lost 8 of their last 9 to nil which is dire and they have failed to score in 13 of their last 17 away matches. Two goals in nine away matches doesn't bode much confidence.

Motherwell vs St Mirren (3pm)

It's all about momentum at  this stage of the season and St Mirren are the only protagonists with anything any sort of confidence coming into his.

Two wins, two draws and a defeat in their last 5 games have given St Mirren a real chance of escaping the drop and and they’ll be backed by a big traveling away support who’ll be expecting them to continue their end of season revival against a Motherwell side who have nothing to play for.

St Mirren have impressed in recent weeks and are more than capable of getting a result here. Crucially they are scoring goals and I really like the look of their goal time which looks generous given their form and need for points.
