Saturday’s Football Tips: Belgians with no margin for error as they seek Euro 2024 tonic against Romania

BELGIUM were the only big gun to lose in the first round of Euro 2024 fixtures so they desperately need to get back on track when they face Romania in Group E today.

But they are up against a Romanian team on a massive high after a stunning 3-0 win over Ukraine in their opener so it's a match fraught with danger for Domenico Tedesco's men.

Having taken a punt on Romelu Lukaku for top scorer at 16/1, I was raging when VAR ruled out two goals for the big Belgian against Slovakia.

The second call, for a handball against Lois Openda, looked incredible harsh and it summed up a day when nothing went right for the Red Devils.

But it was the opposite for Romania in their opener as everything went perfectly from the moment Nicolae Stanciu seized on keeper Andriy Lunin's error to smash home a brilliant opener.

One more point should take them into the last 16 against the odds and Romania will be looking to get the job done today.

Belgium vs Romania Top Betting Tips

Although the Belgians lost their opener they still played some nice football and created plenty of chances. That's why Betfred make them 4/9 hot favourites here, although Romania look a bit overpriced at 6/1 after their heroics against Ukraine.

Tedesco's side need to go for it and Romania will offer a threat on the break so it could pay to back BTTS and over 2.5 goals at 5/4.

Portugal needed a stoppage-time goal from sub Francisco Conceicao to see off the Czechs in their Group F opener and now face a tough second game against a buoyant Turkish side.

Turkey's 3-1 win over Georgia has been the game of the tournament so far and part of the reason was the passionate backing Vincenzo Montella's men got from tens of thousands of fans.

It felt like the game was in Istanbul instead of Dortmund and it will be a similar story tonight. That could level things up so it might be worth backing the Turks in the double chance market at 11/8.

It's another game that promises goals and combining BTTS with over 2.5 goals in this one pays 23/20.

Wonderkid Arda Gulan scored a stunner in the win over Georgia and it looks like he always fancies a dig from distance. That makes him decent value for a shot on target tonight at 11/10.

Georgia vs Czech Republic Top Tips

Georgia did themselves justice on their debut at a major finals and came agonisingly close to snatching a point against Turkey in a frantic finale.

The minnows offered plenty of threat and played some decent football so they could give the Czech Republic a difficult match in the second Group F clash.

Both teams need to go for a win after losing on day one so this should be a decent watch and over 2.5 goals pays 10/11 at Betfred.

West Ham's Tomas Soucek is always a goal threat so I like the evens available at Betfred for the midfielder to have an effort on target.

Georgian midfielder Giorgi Kochorashvili was a bundle of energy in their opener and should have another all-action game. He's 6/4 to go in the book and that looks decent.

Mexico vs Jamaica Top Tips

The late-night game in the Copa America sees Mexico take on Jamaica in the USA and it will feel like a home game for the Mexicans as it's being held in Texas, just a short hop from the border.

It's no surprise to see Mexico as 4/7 favourites but backing them to be winning at half-time and full-time boosts the odds to 6/4.
