BORUSSIA DORTMUND came flying out of the traps on the Bundesliga resumption with a thumping Ruhr derby win but face a tougher test of their title credentials on the road at Wolfsburg.
Last weekend's clash with local rivals Schalke was the showpiece match of German football's much-trumpeted return and Dortmund put on a show as they strolled to a 4-0 win.
Scoring sensation Erling Haaland set the rout in motion and helped our man Slips Tips rack up a clean sweep as all his tips came up.
The victory moved Borussia just a point behind leaders Bayer Munich for a day before the champions restored their four-point advantage with a 2-0 win at Union Berlin.
Dortmund now need to negotiate a tricky away day at Wolfsburg as they bid to keep the pressure on Bayern at the top.
Oliver Glasner's side also returned with a win last weekend, although they needed a late goal to seal a 2-1 victory at Augsburg that brought up two of my tips.
Wolfsburg sit sixth and this will be one of Dortmund's toughest fixtures in the run-in so they will need to be on top form to stay on Bayern's trail.
How the bookies view it
Dortmund's form last weekend caught the eye of the bookies as they are a best 31/40 with Betway for another win here. Wolfsburg are 18/5 with Unibet while the draw is 3/1 with Bet365.
Lucien Favre's men should have too much quality for Wolfsburg but I wouldn't rule out a stalemate.
Recent head to head
Dormund have dominated Wolfsburg in recent seasons, winning eight of their last nine meetings with the other game ending in a draw.
That sequence has included a pair of 5-1 defeats while it ended 3-0 to Borussia when the sides faced off at the Westfalen earlier this season (below).
Wolfsburg's last win in this fixture was a 3-1 German Cup win in 2015.
Players to watch
It's hard to look past the deadly Haaland, who now has 13 goals in just 12 games since his move from Red Bull Salzburg. The Norwegian is a best 5/6 with Coral for a goal here but William Hill offer a more attractive 5/1 on Haaland bagging two or more. SkyBet also price a Haaland headed goal at 14/1 and that's well worth a speculative punt.
Daniel Ginczek came off the bench to grab Wolfsburg's late winner in Augsburg and that could land him a starting jersey. The striker is a decent 14/5 with 888Sport for anytime scorer here.
Anything else catch the eye?
I fancied goals in Wolfsburg's game last weekend and cashed in on them bagging over 1.5 strikes. But they have a drawn a blank in their last six matches against Dortmund so I can't see a repeat.
A Borussia win to nil pays 9/4 at Sportingbet but I can see Wolfsburg ending that barren run so I'll be backing both teams to score at 8/13 with Bet365. Doubling that with a Dortmund win pays 11/5 with the same firm.
Ladbrokes are also offering 13/8 on Dortmund scoring in both halves and that could easily come up while over 2.5 goals appeals at 4/7 with Bet365.
