Villarreal vs Young Boys

, KO: 20:00 Nov 2, 2021, Estadio de la Ceramica
Young Boys

BOTH Villarreal and Young Boys suffered disappointing domestic defeats at the weekend as they prepare for their fourth round of fixtures on Tuesday in the Champions League.

Unai Emery's side have been a major letdown this season and have managed just two wins in La Liga all season and they sit in the bottom half of the table, which is not where they want to be, after a 2-0 defeat at Valencia on Saturday.

But YB are hardly faring much better after a weekend loss at St Gallen and they sit in third place in the Swiss league behind FC Zurich and Basel.

So neither side are exactly firing on all cylinders although the Spaniards will at least take plenty of confidence from when the sides met in Switzerland a couple of weeks ago where they romped to a 4-1 win in Bern.

However, both sides are still very much in the mix for qualifying in what is a very tight group with just three points separating leaders Manchester United and YB who currently sit at the bottom of the group.

How the bookies view it

The hosts are strong favourites here at odds-on across the board. Novibet's 51/100 is currently the best price on offer. The Swiss can be backed at 11/2 with bet365 and the draw is 17/5 with SBK.

Recent head to heads

It was a battering in Bern for Young Boys as Villarreal easily won 4-1 in Switzerland, although the scoreline did probably flatter Villarreal who took advantage of YB desperately pushing players up trying to find a way back into the game.

That's been the clubs' only meeting and it can be seen below.

Players to watch

Gerard Moreno is usually Villarreal's main man, but the Spanish international is out injured just now and not expected to make the game. Dutch international striker Arnaut Danjuma has been in fine form for club and country this season with seven goals in 14 games. He's 31/21 with SBK.

Congolese striker Meschak Elia has six goals for Young Boys so far this season and could be their biggest threat. He's 31/10 with SBK.

Anything else catch the eye?

Goals and a home win seems the obvious shout here. Over 2.5 goals has landed in five of Young Boys' last six Champions League games.

And all three of Villarreal's games in the group stages have gone above that level too with two of them featuring even more goals.

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals looks a solid 20/21 shout with bet365, while the same firm offer 9/4 for a home win and over 3.5 goals which should have a real chance if it's another open game.
