Ukraine go in search of their second victory in Group D of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers as they host Bosnia & Herzegovina at Arena L'viv. They will take confidence from their win over Finland last time out and should edge past Bosnia who have a poor record away from home.
Ukraine finally ended their winless run in the qualifiers with a 2-1 win over Finland in their previous fixture. They went into the break in the lead thanks to goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk and held on for the win.
Despite only just claiming their first win in the qualifiers, Ukraine are unbeaten in Group D. They are second on the table, four points behind leaders France and will be keen to pick up a win at home.
A major problem for manager Oleksander Petrakov throughout the qualifiers appears to be his team’s defending. The Ukrainians have a knack for throwing away the lead and are without a clean sheet in all six of their matches.
Bosnia & Herzegovina were also victorious in their previous qualifying fixture as they triumphed 2-0 against Kazakhstan. A goal in each half from Smail Prevljak was enough to earn them the win and keep alive their hopes of at least making the playoffs.
Ivaylo Petev's men continue to pile the pressure on Ukraine and sit two points behind Tuesday’s hosts. They have also claimed just one win in the qualifiers but unlike their rivals suffered a 1-0 defeat to France earlier in the campaign.
Bosnia have also struggled on their travels lately, claiming just one win from their last seven away matches across all competitions.
