RANGERS bring the curtain down on their Scottish Premiership season with a trip to Paisley to take on St Mirren on Saturday lunchtime.
The Light Blues are guaranteed to finish second in the table, although that will be little consolation given that they will finish the season empty handed.
Michael Beale's men enter their final match of the season off the back of a 2-2 with Hearts, as Garang Kuol struck at the death to pinch a point for the Jambos.
Ahead of a massive summer rebuild at Ibrox, Beale and Co will be keen to sign off for the season by claiming top honours at St Mirren on Saturday.
The Saints secured a top-six finish for the first time since the split was introduced, though their current six-match winless run means they are destined to finish bottom of the top half.
After earning an impressive 2-2 draw away at Celtic last weekend, Stephen Robinson's 10-man side subsequently slumped to a 3-0 loss at Aberdeen in midweek.
Outright Betting
St Mirren and Rangers shared the spoils at this venue earlier in the season and the same outcome here can be backed at 18/5 (BetVictor) while the hosts are as big as 13/2 (Ladbrokes) to topple the Teddy Bears.
Despite winning just one of their last three away games, Rangers make the short trip to Paisley as short priced 4/9 (Bet 365) favourites.
Betting Angles
Given that both sides go into this game with nothing other than pride to play for, I'm happy to back Both Teams to Score at 4/5 (Bet 365).
Rangers' shortcomings this season can be attributed to their struggles when it comes to keeping the back door shut, as evidenced by the fact that they have failed to keep their sheets clean in 13 of their 18 Scottish top-flight road trips this term.
What's more, Michael Beal's backline has been breached in eight of their last 11 league games, a sample that includes St Mirren striking twice at Ibrox as recently as last month.
Therefore, I suspect a St Mirren side that have scored in 14 of their 18 home games this season, could get some joy when they come up against Rangers in a fixture that does have a bit of a dead rubber feel to it.
However, at the other end of the park, Stephen Robinson's side have failed to keep their opponents at bay in 27 of their 37 Scottish Premiership assignments this season, which doesn't bode well ahead of a visit from a Light Blues team whose attacking armoury is filled with goal-threatening talent.
With all that in mind, as well as the fact that this bet would have paid out in each of the previous two meetings between the pair this season, backing each team to oblige on Saturday stands out at 4/5 (Bet 365).
One St Mirren player who looks overpriced to make the net bugle is Curtis Main who can be backed at 4/1 (PaddyPower) in the anytime goalscorer market.
The Saints striker rag-dolled Celtic's rearguard last weekend and racked up a couple of strikes in the process, and he looks worthy of interest to get in on the act again here at a big price.
