SOUTHAMPTON and Wolves square off for the second time in less than 72 hours when they lock horns at St Mary's on Sunday lunchtime.
The Saints marched into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup following a 2-0 win at Molineux on Thursday night, on a night where our man Kevin Mac cashed in on a half time stalemate.
That was just the tonic for Ralph Hasenhuttl's team who were looking to restore some confidence after a 9-0 savaging at Old Trafford last midweek.
Indeed, Southampton's Premier League form has slumped in recent weeks but another win here against Wolves would send the Saints back into the top half of the table, at least temporarily.
The Old Gold, meanwhile, occupy 14th place in the top-flight standings, but it's a measure of the job that Nuno Espirito Santo has done that it feels like something of a slight disappointment.
Having said that, Wolves have won just one of their last 10 Premier League matches and Thursday's FA Cup exit will have done little to help lift the mood at Molineux
Outright Betting
Southampton are winless in each of their last five Premier League fixtures and a Saints success on Sunday pays 29/20 with BetVictor.
Wolves have failed to win any of their last six top-flight road trips and the visitors are an unfancied 9/4 with Unibet, while the draw is trading at 11/5 with TonyBet.
Betting Angles
This looks like a tricky fixture to tackle from a betting perspective so I'll once again head to Bet 365's Bet Builder market to throw together a same game multiple.
If we combine over zero Southampton goals, over zero Southampton cards and over two Southampton corners we can get some 4/5 (Bet 365) and that makes appeal.
Southampton have notched in 8/11 home matches this season and they will be coming up against a creaky Wolves rearguard who have recorded just two clean sheets across their last 16 league outings.
With that in mind, coupled with the attacking threat that the Hasenhuttl's crew carry, I fancy the Saints to get on the scoresheet on Sunday.
With another closely-fought contest anticipated I'll also back the home team to pick up at booking during this bout – the Saints have collected at least one caution in nine of their last 10 Premier League assignments.
To nudge up the price on the above-mentioned Bet Builder I'll also throw in three Saints corners, something that doesn't look like too much to ask for when you consider that Southampton are averaging almost five flag kicks per 90 minutes at St Mary's this term.
I'll also dip into the anytime goalscorer market and take the 13/8 on offer with BetVictor for Southampton striker Danny Ings to make the net bulge Sunday.
Hasenhuttl's hitman put Wolves to the sword on Thursday night and the Southamton talisman is a tempting play at the aforementioned price to repeat the trick this weekend.
