RB Salzburg vs Chelsea

, KO: 17:45 Oct 25, 2022, Red Bull Arena, Salzburg
Chelsea

CHELSEA suffered a late setback against Manchester United at the weekend, but they have a chance to clinch their place in the next round of the Champions League with a win in Austria against RB Salzburg.

The top two in Group E meet with AC Milan and Dinamo Zagreb struggling to catch up. Both teams can actually qualify here in the penultimate game.

For the Londoners, they qualify if they win, or if they draw and AC Milan win. Chelsea will be confirmed in first place if they win and Dinamo Zagreb don't.

Salzburg will go through if they win and AC Milan fail to beat the Croatians.

Graham Potter's new charges thought they had beaten United with a late goal on Saturday night, only to see United peg them back deep into injury time at Stamford Bridge.

They are unbeaten in eight games though since a defeat in Zagreb and won five in a row before drawing with Brentford and with United.

But they will face a stern test against a Salzburg side who have lost only one out of 17 games in all competitions this season and that was in July at Sturm Graz.

They have drawn three of their four games in the group and are currently top of the Austrian Bundesliga.

How the bookies view it

Chelsea are odds-on favourites here and SBK's 7/9 is the closest you will get to evens.

RB Salzburg can be backed at 7/2 with 888Sport and the draw is 3/1 with UniBet.

Recent head to heads

Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge by Salzburg when they met last month after Raheem Sterling's goal was cancelled out by Noah Okafor.

Players to watch

Jorginho netted a penalty against Manchester United at the weekend and the Italian star also netted via the same route against AC Milan in the group. He is 4/1 to score in Austria with William Hill.

Chukwubuike Adamu scored a hat-trick in Salzburg's penultimate game against Austria Vienna and he is 10/3 to score with bet365 on Tuesday.

Anything else catch the eye?

This won't be easy for Chelsea against a team like RB Salzburg who are extremely hard to break down, as their results state. And the draw here could be the call….just as it was in London when they met earlier in the group.

Chelsea had 72 per cent of possession in the first game and still couldn't win, so the hosts could claim a point which wouldn't be disastrous to either team.

Three of Chelsea's four games and all of Salzburg's games in the group have ended with under 2.5 goals and there's no reason to think this could go against the grain. The 11/10 on unders with UniBet seems a solid shout.

This match between RB Salzburg and Chelsea will be played on Oct 25, 2022 and kick off at 17:45. Check below for our tipsters best RB Salzburg vs Chelsea prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
