Rangers vs Ross County

, KO: 15:00 Aug 27, 2022, Ibrox
Ross County

RANGERS fans will get a chance to pay homage to their Champions League heroes on Saturday with Ross County the visitors at Ibrox.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side celebrated a famous 1-0 win in the Netherlands to send PSV Eindhoven spinning out of the competition and hand the Europa League runners-up a massive financial boost.

But it's back to their bread and butter on Saturday and with Rangers already two points behind Celtic after last week's controversial draw with nine men at Hibs, anything other than a comprehensive win would take the feelgood factor away from Govan.

County are usually an entertaining watch with a goal threat everywhere they go. Although they have never beat Rangers in their history, they aren't afraid to have a go and a comeback draw against Rangers last season gave their title hopes a serious dent.

Malky Mackay's side take a while to get going – they didn't win last season until October and still finished in the top six – and they beat Kilmarnock last week with ten men.

But Rangers are very warm good things to chalk up what should be a routine win.

How the bookies view it

Obviously, nothing much is being given away with prohibitive odds of 1/6 for a Rangers win with BoyleSports the best on offer. Ross County are available at 22/1 with Coral and the draw is 7/1 with bet365.

Recent head to heads

Rangers romped to a 4-1 win against the Staggies in their Europa League Final send-off last season as can be seen below. Rangers won 4-2 at home and away, but their 3-3 draw in Dingwall in January was costly.

Players to watch

All eyes will be on Antonio Colak after his sensational start to his career which included that mega-millions winner in PSV. But he's odds-on to score anytime and is 4/5 to do that.

On loan Bristol City forward Owura Edwards is an exciting talent and scored the winner against Killie last week. He is 11/2 with McBookie.com to score anytime on Saturday.

Anything else catch the eye?

County managed to score in all four games last season against Rangers and Mackay will set up his team to net again here. With Rangers so short, the value call is a home win and both teams to score at 21/10 with Ladbrokes.

There should be goals here with Rangers expected to rattle in a few and, as stated, County are well capable of contributing too. You need to go to over 3.5 goals and a Rangers win to get odds-against and the 11/10 with Boylesports seems a solid shout.

Finally, for a long shot, with Rangers perhaps leggy after their midweek efforts, County may try and surprise them at the start of this game. McBookie.com's 19/4 for both teams to score in the first half is worth a go.
