There’s a massive game at the bottom of the Premier League table at the City Ground on Wednesday night as 17th-placed Nottingham Forest host rock-bottom Wolves.
Nottingham Forest saw their four-game unbeaten run in the Premier League come to an end last Friday, as they were beaten 3-1 away at relegation rivals Leeds United, on an evening I landed a 4/5 winner.
With West Ham winning at Burnley the following day, Sean Dyche’s men come into this clash now just three points above the Hammers in the relegation zone.
Wolves suffered a third consecutive loss in the Premier League last weekend, as a Cole Palmer-inspired Chelsea left the Molineux with a 1-3 victory.
Rob Edwards’s men remain a massive 18 points adrift of their hosts, with relegation to the Championship more or less already guaranteed.
How the bookies view it: Forest favourites
Despite failing to win any of their previous four Premier League fixtures at the City Ground, Nottingham Forest come into this clash as favourites, with bet365 pricing a home success at 7/10.
Wolves are 4/1 outsiders to claim just their second Premier League victory of the season, whilst the draw is 14/5.
Head to head: Six unbeaten for Forest
Nottingham Forest are unbeaten in each of their previous six Premier League meetings with Wolves (W2-D4-L0), including a 0-1 victory in the reverse fixture at Molineux in December.
However, the Tricky Trees have failed to win any of their previous nine matches against Wolves at the City Ground (W0-D4-L5), with each of the last four finishing in stalemates.
Players to watch: Another yellow for Yerson?
Yerson Mosquera has unbelievably been booked nine times across his 16 Premier League appearances for Wolves this season.
One of those cards came in the reverse fixture between these two sides at Molineux in December, and the 19/10 on offer at William Hill for the Colombian defender to collect another card on Wednesday night appeals to me.
Predicted line-ups:
Nottingham Forest will be without the injured Matz Sels, John Victor, Nicola Savona and Chris Wood, whilst defender Murillo is a doubt, but Neco Williams is available following suspension.
Wolves will be without the injured Toti Gomes and Hwang Hee-Chan, whilst midfielder Andre is a doubt.
Nottingham Forest: Ortega, Aina, Milenkovic, Morato, Williams, Sangare, Anderson, Hutchinson, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi, Lucca
Wolverhampton Wanderers: Sa, Doherty, Mosquera, Bueno, Bueno, Gomes, Bellegarde, Gomes, Mane, Armstrong, Arokodare
Anything else catch the eye?
Nottingham Forest come into this clash as favourites, but they seem a little too short for me, especially given they have failed to win any of their previous nine meeting with the Old Gold at the City Ground.
Prior to their 1-3 loss at home to Chelsea at the weekend, Wolves had seen Under 2.5 Goals pay out in each of their last four and in five of their past six Premier League encounters.
Under 2.5 Goals has also landed in each of Forest’s last three Premier League fixtures on home soil, and a repeat pays an appealing 10/11 at bet365.
