Nice vs Monaco

, KO: 12:00 Sep 19, 2021, Allianz Riviera
Monaco

Nice will look to continue their solid start to the season as they welcome Monaco to the Allianz Riviera for a French Ligue 1 clash. Nice have made a blistering start to the season and are more than capable of getting past an out of form Monaco.

Nice have started the season in good form as they continue their rich vein of form this season. They claimed a 2-0 victory over Nantes in their previous Ligue 1 fixture with Kasper Dolberg and Amine Gouiri getting the goals.

It has been a dream start to the season for Nice, who are still unbeaten having won their last three matches since the 0-0 draw against Reims in their opening fixture. They are six points off leaders PSG but have a game in hand with the clash against Marseille still to be replayed.

Manager Christophe Galtier is proving that his title win with Lille was no fluke with Nice showing similar traits to the champion’s last season. The foundation for Lille’s triumph was a sturdy defence and Galtier appears to have carried on that approach with Nice yet to concede after four matches this season.

Monaco got some respite from the miserable domestic form as they claimed a 1-0 victory over Austrian side Sturm Graz in the UEFA Europa League. They were unconvincing in the contest but managed to secure the win through Krepin Diatta's second half effort.

Attention must now turn to domestic matters where Monaco have claimed just one win from five matches this season. Nico Kovac’s men have suffered three defeats in their last four matches and are sitting dangerously close to the relegation zone.

Monaco have failed to score in three of their last four Ligue 1 matches while last season’s top scorer Wissam Ben Yedder is yet to get off the mark this term after five appearances.

How the bookies view it

The bookies are split on this one with a win for Nice priced at 16/9 by SBK, who are also offering 17/10 for a Monaco victory. A draw is set at odds of 5/2 with bet365.

Head to head

Monaco have a 22-15 advantage with nine draws from 46 previous matches against Nice. They did the double over Nice last season with the clash at the Allianz Riviera ending 2-0.

Players to watch

Defending has been pivotal to Nice's fine start to the season with Jean-Clair Todibo and Dante forming a solid partnership at centre-back. They are yet to concede this season and given Monaco’s attacking problems, will be confident of keeping another clean sheet at 5/2 with William Hill.

Nice appear to have struck the right balance in attack as forwards Kasper Dolberg and Amine Gouiri have scored four goals each this season. Dolberg is priced at 28/5 by SBK to score anytime while Gouiri is valued at 15/2 in the same market.
