Manchester City vs Watford

, KO: 17:00 May 18, 2019, Wembley
Watford

MANCHESTER CITY stand on the brink of an unprecedented domestic treble and the bookies make them hot favourites to go down in history at Wembley.

The best price you can get on Pep Guardiola's men is 6/25 with Marathonbet while Watford are as big as 14/1 with Sky Bet.

The odds on a Hornets win are incredible, given Javi Gracia's side finished 11th in the Premier League and played some hugely impressive football.

For a team to be 14/1 outsiders in a Cup Final you'd expect them to be a lower-league side and plenty of punters might be sticking a few speculative quid on an upset.

Watford hugely impressed me with their comeback win over Wolves in a thrilling semi-final, and not only because it brought up almost all my tips.

That victory underlined the great work Gracia has done at Vicarage Road but City have won their last 18 domestic matches so it's easy to see why the bookies can't see them slipping up with the treble tantalisingly within reach.

They eased past Brighton 4-1 last weekend to seal the Premier League crown, while Watford lost by the same margin at home to West Ham.

The Hornets weren't helped by Jose Holebas' red card early in the second half, a dismissal that looked set to rob the Greek full-back of his big day at Wembley.

But Watford appealed against the decision and the red card was overturned, freeing Holebas to play. It would be fitting if he emerged as the Wembley hero and the Greek might be worth a speculative punt at 22/1 with Bet 365 for anytime scorer given his long-range shooting prowess.

Both sides should be at full strength and I'm expecting an open game. City came out on top in both their league encounters this season, winning 2-1 at Vicarage Road then 3-1 at the Etihad.

That suggests a City victory with both teams to score is a good shout and it's 2/1 with Betway. A repeat of that 3-1 win is available at a boosted 11/1 with Skybet and that's another decent option.

With it being the Cup Final, most firms have some interesting specials and requested bets. I like the look of the 5/4 William Hill offer on both sides winning over one corner in the first half while Betfred have a tempting 7/4 on any City player scoring from outside the area.

Two of their goals against Brighton, a Riyad Mahrez screamer and Ilkay Gundogan's free-kick, came from outside the box so that might be worth a few quid.

William Hill also have a cracking requested bet on tackles, offering 9/2 on Vincent Kompany making more than one tackle and Etienne Capoue making over three. That looks like great value for a Cup Final, when challenges often fly in.
