Leicester City vs Leeds United

, KO: 20:00 Nov 3, 2023, King Power Stadium
Leeds United

Leicester City will be aiming to extend their lead at the top of the Championship standings as they host Leeds United in a Friday night fixture. Leeds have struggled on their recent travels and should find things difficult at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester City head into Friday’s clash off the back of a 2-1 victory at QPR last time out in the Championship. They went into the break level as Stephy Mavididi’s opener was cancelled out by the hosts, although Harry Winks netted the winner 10 minutes from time.

That was the ninth straight Championship win for Leicester City who remain the team to beat this season. Sitting five points clear at the top of the standings, they are not just well on course for automatic promotion but also to emerge overall champions.

While Leicester City are generally difficult to face on any ground, the King Power Stadium remains a fortress this season. Enzo Maresca’s men have won six of their last seven Championship home matches, keeping clean sheets in the last four fixtures in that run.

Although they have not been as dominant as Leicester City, Leeds United still have reasons to be pleased with their campaign so far. Sitting third on the standings, they are well on course for a playoff finish.

Leeds United have been in good form recently and head into Friday’s clash with four wins from their last five matches. They picked up a 4-1 victory over Huddersfield Town in their previous Championship fixture with Crysencio Summerville and Dan James each netting a brace.

The slight problem for Leeds United is their away form as they have picked up just one win from their last four matches on their travels. Daniel Farke’s men have been beaten twice in that run and suffered a 1-0 defeat to Stoke City in their previous fixture on the road.

How the bookies view it

Leicester City have the upper hand among the bookies with a home win priced at 27/25 by Unibet. A victory for Leeds United is valued at 12/5 by William Hill while Betfred is offering odds of 11/4 for a draw.

Head to head

Leicester City have a 33-32 edge with 27 draws from 92 previous matches against Leeds United. The Foxes have won the last two meetings at the King Power Stadium but were held to a 1-1 draw in a Premier League fixture back in April.

Players to watch

Kelechi Iheanacho has five goals this season and will be the one to watch for Leicester City on Friday. The Nigerian striker has also found the net in two of the last three home matches and is priced at 13/8 by bet365 to get on the score sheet.

Leeds United have shown the ability to break down even the most stubborn defences and will be confident of getting past the Leicester backline. Crysencio Summerville has six goals this season, including a brace last time out and could be with keeping an eye on at 8/2 with Paddy Power.

Anything else catch the eye?

Both teams were on target in their last meeting back in April and a similar outcome could be on the cards at 8/13 with William Hill. Leeds United saw over 3.5 goals in their previous fixture and a repeat is valued at 37/20 with Unibet, who is also offering odds of 7/10 for over 2.5 goals.

Leicester City have scored in both halves in three of their last four Championship matches and Friday’s clash could be tipped to follow a similar pattern at 19/10 with Unibet.
