LEEDS UNITED and Liverpool round off the Premier League weekend when they lock horns at Elland Road on Monday night.
The Whites looked to have eased their relegation fears after defeating fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest last midweek but they were brought back down to earth with an almighty bump after suffering a 5-1 mauling at home to Crystal Palace last Sunday.
That chastening setback coupled with results elsewhere means that Javi Gracia's side start the weekend just two points and two places above the Premier League basement zone.
Back on home soil on Monday night, Leeds will be looking to get their fight for survival back on track with a victory over Liverpool.
The Reds' home form in comparison to their away couldn't be any more Jekyll and Hyde and that was evident last weekend when they roared back from two goals down to draw with league leaders Arsenal.
What all that means though is that Liverpool, with nine rounds of fixtures left to play, are pretty much in no man's land as they are 12 points adrift of a much coveted-top four spot.
Outright Betting
Leeds, who have avoided defeat in 10 of their 15 Premier League home games this season, go into this Monday night match-up as 7/2 (BetVictor) outsiders while the draw can be backed at 3/1 (William Hill).
Despite triumphing in just three of their 15 top-flight road trips this term, Liverpool enter Elland Road as lowly 8/11 (Bet 365) favourites.
Betting Angles
Liverpool's away form makes them a far from a trustworthy betting proposition so I'll opt for an alternative angle via the Bet Builder market by bundling up Liverpool Double Chance, Liverpool to Score and Over 1 Leeds Card at 4/5 (Bet 365).
While Liverpool have blown hot and cold this season, Jurgen Klopp still has an awesome attacking armoury filled with goal-threatening talent that could smell blood against a Leeds backline that was breached five times by Crystal Palace last time out.
What's more, the Whites haven't managed to tighten up at the back under Javi Gracia's watch, with the home side failing to keep the back door shut in each of their last seven Premier League outings.
In fact, Leeds have conceded a minimum of two goals in four of their last five league games, so I'm more than happy to back Liverpool to strike at least once here and to avoid defeat in the process.
Given Leeds' greater need of the points here, coupled with what promises to be raucous atmosphere under the West Yorkshire lights, I'll conclude the combination with Leeds to receive two or more cards from referee Craig Pawson who was has been one of the more card-happy officials in the top-flight this term.
The Elland Road club are averaging 2.20 yellows per-game in the Premier League this season and they may have to deploy the dark arts here if they are to take the sting out of Liverpool's star-studded attack.
Elsewhere, I'll also have a go on the 5/6 on offer with PaddyPower for Liverpool's Fabinho to tackle himself into trouble by committing 2 or more fouls.
The combative Brazilian midfielder has conceded two or more free-kicks for his side in three of their last four Premier League games, not to mention this bet would have paid out in October's reverse fixture between the pair.
