Inter Miami vs Montreal ImpactMLS, KO: 00:30 May 13, 2021, DRV PNK Stadium
Inter Miami are seeking their first home win of the season as they welcome Montreal Impact to the DRV PNK Stadium for a midweek MLS fixture. With Montreal also struggling at the start of the season, Miami will fancy their chances on Thursday.
Inter Miami needed an equaliser from Lewis Morgan to salvage a 1-1 draw against Atlanta United in their previous Serie A fixture. They will be disappointed not to have claimed all the points after missing a number of goalscoring opportunities.
The result means Inter Miami are still without a home win this season having begun their campaign with a 3-2 defeat against LA Galaxy. They are down in ninth in the Eastern Conference and will need to turn their home form around for a chance to shoot up the table.
There are a few positives for manager Phil Neville with his team unbeaten since the opening weekend. They have also looked solid in attack, particularly with Gonzalo Higuain, who has two goals in three appearances this season.
Montreal Impact travel to Miami off the back of their first defeat of the season as they were beaten 2-0 by the Vancouver Whitecaps. Despite enjoying a large chunk of the possession, they lacked the cutting edge in attack and barely troubled the Vancouver backline.
It is shaping up to be a poor season for Montreal who have now failed to win since their 4-2 victory over Toronto on the opening weekend. They have also struggled to find their rhythm in attack, failing to score in their last two MLS matches.
Although it is still early days in the campaign, Wilfried Nancy’s men have not shown playoff quality this season. They are generally poor on their travels with seven defeats from their last 10 away matches, stretching back to last season.
How the bookies view it
Head to head
Montreal Impact claimed a 2-1 victory in their only previous fixture against Inter Miami.
Players to watch
Gonzalo Higuain had a quiet outing on his return to the team following a family emergency. The Argentine striker has two goals in three appearances and could be worth a punt in the anytime goalscorer market at 5/6.
Mason Toye has looked off colour in recent weeks but still has two goals for Montreal this season. The young forward often carries the attacking threat for the visitors and is priced at 3/1 by bet365 to score anytime.
Anything else catch the eye?
Montreal Impact have seen over 3.5 goals in two of their four matches this season and a similar outcome is priced at 13/8 by bet365. Over 2.5 goals is set at odds of 13/20 by the same firm while Boylesports is offering 4/6 on both teams to score.
Inter Miami could be backed to score in both halves at 6/4 with Skybet while a win for the hosts and over 2.5 goals could also be worth a punt at 11/8 with bet365.
