HEARTS and HIBS play each other in the final game of the season and last Edinburgh Derby of the campaign with the prize a fourth place spot in the Premiership and capital bragging rights.
Both clubs, especially Hearts, will be disappointed at losing the best of the rest tag to Aberdeen, but both teams have had inconsistent seasons.
Hearts started sluggishly with the distraction of European football seemingly dragging them down, rallied and seemed certain to get third before a disastrous slump cost Robbie Neilson his job and ultimately that third spot position.
Steven Naismith's prospects of getting the gig full time could well depend on how his team performs against their bitter rivals, who have hit form of their own. Hearts claimed a morale-boosting 2-2 draw with Rangers at Ibrox this week.
Lee Johnson's side look like they have finally hit some stability at the end of the season and beat champions Celtic 4-2 in midweek, which must give them a huge confidence boost.
But let's not forget Johnson's job has been hanging by a thread at various times this season and there remain plenty of doubts over his long-term prospects in Leith.
He needed that last derby win against Hearts desperately and another would leave him with credit in the bank over the summer…and would take them above their rivals.
How the bookies view it
Hearts are favourites here at 23/20 with bet365. Hibs can be backed at 23/10 with McBookie.com and the draw is 13/5 with the same firm.
Recent head to heads
This will be their fifth meeting this season. Hearts have won three, Hibs the last one and the first game was a draw. Hibs haven't won in Gorgie for four years.
Players to watch
Lawrence Shankland is Hearts captain and talisman and his 28 goals this season is a hugely impressive record. He scored in the first minute at Ibrox in midweek and is bound to be favourite to score anytime when the prices go up for goalscorers.
Elie Youan can sometimes be a frustrating figure because he can take the wrong option, but there's certainly a player in there with an eye for a goal as he demonstrated in midweek with a double against Celtic.
Anything else catch the eye?
Although these games have a reputation for low-scoring war of attritions, this could be a rare entertaining derby and the draw is the sensible call here.
Hearts are very strong at home, but Hibs have steadily improved recently and should be good enough to get a point, but not ultimately the three they require to go above Hearts.
The sides were involved in ten goals in midweek between them and with Hibs having to go for the win, that should lead to goals here. Go for over 3.5 goals at 17/10 with McBookie.com
