Following a disappointing outing last time out, Roma will be looking to get their campaign back on track as they travel to Empoli for a Monday night Serie A fixture.
It is still early days in the campaign but Empoli are already looking like prime relegation candidates. They are winless after five matches this season and are currently down in the bottom half of the table.
The good news for Empoli is that they have not lost since a 1-0 defeat at Spezia in the opening weekend of the season. Paolo Zanetti’s men have drawn their last four matches, including a 2-2 scoreline with Salernitana in their previous fixture.
Empoli may be technically unbeaten at home this season, but the lack of wins is likely to be worrying. Their poor record at home stretches back to last season as they have claimed just one win from their last 12 Serie A matches at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.
Roma travel to Empoli off the back of their first defeat of the season and were beaten 4-0 at Udinese in their previous Serie A fixture. They were no match for the hosts’ brutal counter-attacks and were also undone by a string of defensive errors.
It has been a bad week for the Giallorossi as they followed up that result with another defeat in their opening fixture in the Europa League. They were beaten 2-1 at Bulgarian side Ludogorets with Eldor Shomurodov getting their goal.
Aside from the poor results this past week, it has been a generally positive start to the season for Roma. Jose Mourinho’s men were top of Serie A prior to the defeat at Udinese having claimed three wins and a draw from their opening four matches.

Roma have the upper hand among the bookies and are priced at 7/9 by SBK to claim the win. A victory for is valued at 4/1 by SBK while a draw is set at odds of 3/1 by Betfred.

Roma are unbeaten in their last eight matches against Empoli, claiming seven wins in that run. The capital club did the double over Empoli last season with the clash at the Stadio Carlo Castellani ending 4-2 thanks to a brace from Tammy Abraham.
Players to watch
Having failed to score in their opening two matches, Empoli are slowly beginning to find their rhythm in attack. Forward Sam Lammers scored the winner last time out at Salernitana and could be worth keeping an eye on to find the net at 15/4 with bet365.
Tammy Abraham has not been at his best for Roma this season with just one goal so far. However, the striker scored twice on his last visit to Empoli and could be tipped to once again get on the score sheet at 11/8 with Betfred.

There were six goals in the last meeting at the Stadio Carlo Castellani and with neither side looking convincing at the back, Monday’s clash is likely to produce something similar.
