Brighton vs Ipswich

, KO: 15:00 Sep 14, 2024, The AMEX Stadium
Ipswich

Brighton will welcome Premier League new boys, Ipswich Town, to the Amex Stadium on Saturday, 14 September with the hosts looking to build on their impressive start to the new campaign.

The Seagulls have picked up seven points from their first three matches and they've hardly had easy fixtures. They've taken four points off Man Utd and Arsenal and won away at Goodison Park.

Ipswich have found life in the top flight difficult so far but they did face Liverpool and Man City in their opening two matches. They picked up a point against Fulham last time out and will now be looking to kick on.

How the bookies view it: The hosts start as favourites

Brighton come into this match in great form and it is therefore not a huge surprise that they have been priced as the odds-on favourites to defeat Ipswich. Betfred have priced a Brighton win as short as 2/5 while a win for Ipswich has been priced at 15/2. The draw, which would be a better result for the visitors, has been priced at 4/1.

Recent head-to-head: A first meeting in seven years

There isn't a great lot to be taken from the recent head-to-head record between Brighton and Ipswich as their last meeting came in the Championship back in 2017. For what it's worth, Brighton have won two of the last five H2Hs while Ipswich have won one. The two most recent encounters finished all square.

Players to watch: Youth vs experience

Two talented strikers will take to the field on Saturday afternoon at the AMEX Stadium but the two men are at the opposite end of their careers.

Liam Delap has been tasked with being the man to lead the Ipswich line this season and with that comes huge pressure given what's at stake for the club in terms of relegation. The 21-year-old came through the ranks at Man City and has enjoyed several loan spells in the Championship before signing for the Tractor Boys on a permanent deal this summer.

Delap has already shown what he's all about with this wondergoal against Fulham before the international break and he will now be looking to build on that.

Leading the line for Brighton will be Danny Welbeck, a man who has seen it all at this level. The 33-year-old has started the season brilliantly and has scored two goals in three appearances so far.

Predicted line-ups

Brighton are without three players this weekend with new signing, Matthew O'Riley the biggest loss for the Seagulls. Joining the Dane in the treatment room are Solly March and James Milner. Ipswich have injury concerns of their own and will be without five first-team players including George Hirst and Wesley Burns.

Brighton: Verbruggen – Veltman, Dunk, van Hecke, Ayari – Hinshelwood, Baleba – Mitoma, Pedro, Minteh – Welbeck

Ipswich: Muric – Tuanzebe, Woolfenden, Greaves, Davis – Morsy, Phillips, Szmodics – Ogbene, Hutchinson, Delap

Anything else catch the eye?

Out of the six matches that these two teams have played this season, four of them have seen both teams get on the scoresheet. Given that both managers like to play an expansive, risky style of football it's fair to assume there will be chances at both ends on Saturday, too. Both teams to score has been priced at 8/11 with Betfred.

This match between Brighton and Ipswich will be played on Sep 14, 2024 and kick off at 15:00. Check below for our tipsters best Brighton vs Ipswich prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
