Arsenal will look to strengthen their position at the top of the Premier League table as they travel to the AMEX Stadium to take on mid-table Brighton & Hove Albion.
Arsenal regained their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table as they claimed a 2-1 victory over London rivals Chelsea at the Emirates on Sunday, on an afternoon both of my selections landed.
That followed up their 1-4 victory away at North London rivals Spurs the week before, a result that extended their unbeaten record away from home in the Premier League to seven matches (W4-D3-L0).
Brighton come into this clash after recording back-to-back wins for just the second time in the Premier League this season as they backed up their 0-2 victory away at Brentford by winning 2-1 at home to relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest.
Those successes have eased the pressure on Fabian Hurzeler, as the Seagulls had won just one of their previous 13 Premier League encounters prior to those consecutive victories.
How the bookies view it: Arsenal favourites
Arsenal are favourites to claim a third consecutive win in the Premier League on Wednesday, with bet365 pricing an away success at 13/20.
The Eagles are 19/5 underdogs to claim a third successive win in the Premier League themselves, whilst the draw is 31/10.
Head to head: Six unbeaten for the Gunners
Arsenal are unbeaten in each of their previous six meetings with the Seagulls (W4-D2-L0), including a 2-1 success in the reverse fixture at the Emirates at the end of December.
Players to watch: Gunners defenders to chip in again?
Arsenal’s defenders continue to chip in with goals this season, with William Saliba and Jurrien Timber scoring both of their goals against Chelsea at the weekend, whilst Gabriel provided an assist.
Gabriel is 6/1 to score, Timber 8/1 and Saliba is an appealing 16/1, and it may be worth having a small stake on all three to score given their set-piece prowess.
Predicted line-ups:
Mikel Arteta will be without the injured Mikel Merino, whilst Ben White, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard are doubts.
Brighton will be missing Adam Webster, Solly March and Stefanos Tzimas due to injury, whilst Mats Wieffer and Yasin Ayari are doubts.
Brighton & Hove Albion: Verbruggen, Veltman, Van Hecke, Dunk, Kadioglu, Hinshelwood, Gross, Milner, Gomez, Mitoma, Welbeck
Arsenal: Raya, Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapie, Zubimendi, Rice, Eze, Saka, Trossard, Gyokeres
Anything else catch the eye?
Goals look on the card at the AMEX on Wednesday night, with Both Teams to Score paying an appealing 1/1 at Betfred, a selection that has landed in each of Arsenal’s last four Premier League encounters across all venues and in seven of their past 10 away from home.
What’s more, the Seagulls have failed to score just twice at home this season, with 10/14 (71%) of their clashes at the AMEX this season producing goals at both ends.
