Bodo/Glimt’s time in the Champions League could soon come to an end, unless they find a way to beat Borussia Dortmund away at Signal Iduna Park.
The Prussians return to UCL action with the goal of solidifying their position among the Top 8 in the League Phase. Borussia Dortmund have produced a number of the most sensational fixtures in the current campaign, having scored four goals in four of their five fixtures to date.
The only team that found a solution and beat them was Manchester City, which is neither surprising, nor shameful. But Bodo/Glimt are levels beneath the Citizens in every aspect, and beating Borussia away sounds like a fairy tale.
The Norwegian sensation is having problems at the highest level, less than a year after reaching the final four in the Europa League. Bodo remain winless after five rounds and on a three-match losing streak after the two early draws.
Neutral fans have to give them their flowers, however, as Bodo have tried their best to stay competitive and caused problems to much greater sides like Monaco and Juventus. Most of their games were goal-packed and thrilling, But their best performances were at home and Signal Iduna Park is one of the hardest stadiums to play at in the world.
How the bookies view it: Bodo to get crushed
Discussing the odds in a match like this is almost pointless, but we have to do it, as we’ve seen countless underdog stories in recent years, including many with Bodo’s involvement.
With this said, you can currently pick Borussia Dortmund at 3/10, while Bodo/Glimt are available at 9/1. If you believe the Norwegians are capable of stealing at least a point, you can back the draw at 5/1.
Recent head-to-head: Bodo's first match against Germans since 1990
As expected, Borussia Dortmund and Bodo/Glimt have never met before, as this is the visitors’ debut appearance in the League/Group phase of the Champions League.
The Prussians have faced Norwegian opposition throughout the years, and all of these games had extraordinary results. Overall, BVB have four wins and one defeat (D1) against teams from this country.
Players to watch: Guirassy plays better in the UCL
Serhou Guirassy needs to wake up and a match against a smaller side can be a solid opportunity. The Guinean has had a slow start to the season, at least when compared to his last few campaigns, but had his best performances in the Champions League.
Two weeks ago, he scored a brace against Villarreal. If we go back a year, he scored 13 goals in 14 UCL appearances last season. He has it in him and it is a matter of time until he starts scoring on a regular.

Probable line-ups
Borussia Dortmund: Kobel, Anselmino, Can, Bensebaini, Couto, Sabitzer, Bellingham, Beier, Brandt, Silva, Guirassy
Bodo/Glimt: Haikin, Sjovold, Bjortuft, Aleesami, Bjorkan, Berg, Blomberg, Evjen, Fet, Hauge, Hogh
Anything else catch the eye?
Bodo/Glimt and Norwegian teams as a whole have always been known for their goal-packed matches and this season is no exception. The visitors had at least three goals in nine out of their last 10 matches. The only exception is the 1-0 loss to Monaco.
On the other end, we have Borussia Dortmund – the second-highest scoring side in the Champions League this season. With 17 goals scored in five rounds, they average 3.4 goals per match. If they scored four to Juventus, Bilbao, and Villarreal, they should be able to repeat that against the humble Bodo.
