BELGIUM will be looking to get their World Cup qualifying campaign back on track when they play host to Belarus on Tuesday night.
Roberto Martinez's men played out a somewhat surprising 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic on Saturday, a result that left Belgium sitting joint-top of Group E.
That point in Prague also brought Belgium's four-game winning streak to an end, but the Belgians are heavily fancied to bounce back when Belarus come calling.
Martinez's star-studded side are ranked as the number one team in the world by Fifa, while Belarus are 87 places below the Red Devils in the rankings.
Having said that, Mikhail Markhel's minnows hit the ground running in Group E with an excellent 4-2 win against Estonia on Saturday.
However, a trip to one of the best sides in Europe will represent a serious upgrade on that challenge and lowly Belarus could feel the wrath of a wounded Belgium beast on Tuesday night.
Outright Betting
Belgium are unbeaten at home since September 2016 and the hosts are red-hot favourites here at 1/25 with Bet 365.
Belarus have lost just one of their last four matches but the visitors are unsurprisingly the unfancied underdogs here at a whopping 100/1 with BetVictor and the draw is trading at 16/1 with TonyBet.
Betting Angles
This fixture looks like a massive international mismatch and it's therefore a case of having to get creative to get a decent price on a Belgium win.
I'll therefore head to the Bet Builder market and combine Belgium half time/full time, over zero second-half goals for Belgium and under one Belarus goal, a backable 4/5 shot with Bet 365.
As already alluded to, Belgium boast an imperious home record and they have been leading at half time before going on to win the game in nine of their last 10 matches on home turf.
It's also worth noting that Martinez's men have won nine of their last 10 home matches by at least a two-goal winning margin and the Belgian boss will be keen to see his side register a clean sheet here after watching his side concede in each of their opening two qualifiers.
Indeed, Belarus have undergone a marked improvement in recent years, but Markhel's men fell to 4-0 defeats away at both Germany and the Netherlands respectively during the last qualifying campaign and I suspect they could suffer a similar fate on Tuesday night.
With that in mind, coupled with Belgium's embarrassment of riches, I'm happy to have a play on the above-mentioned Bet Builder at 4/5 with Bet 365.
I'll also dip into PaddyPower‘s featured bets market and take the 10/11 for Belgium to win, Belgium to take the most corners and Belarus to receive the most cards.
This is the type of assignment that Belgium are particularly efficient in dealing with – the hosts are unbeaten n 30 home matches, winning 25 – and they will be coming against a Belarus outfit who have lost each of their last 11 World Cup qualifiers away from home.
As such, the above-mentioned combination looks like a nice way of trying to squeeze some value out of what should be a routine stroll to victory for the Belgians.
