ASTON VILLA will be aiming to get their Premier League top four push back on track by earning a win against Wolves at Villa Park on Saturday evening.
Unai Emery's side are currently occupying fourth spot in the standings, however they have only collected one point from their last two matches.
That solitary point was picked up against West Ham in a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium ahead of the recent international break.
As such, Villa currently sit three points in front of fifth-placed Tottenham and therefore can ill -afford any slip-ups when they go up against Midlands rivals Wolves this weekend.
Currently housed inside the top half of the table, the Old Gold have exceeded expectations in the Premier League this season.
That being said, Wolves will be licking their wounds following their dramatic 3-2 loss at home to Coventry in the FA Cup a fortnight ago.
Outright Betting
Aston Villa, who are winless in their last six meetings with Wolves, are odds-on 4/6 favourites with Betfred.
Despite winning three of their last four Premier League matches, Wolves are big outsiders at 4/1 (Bet 365) while a Villa Park stalemate has been priced up at 7/2 (Bet 365).
Betting Angles
Backing an Aston Villa side that have lost three of their last four home games makes little appeal so I'll dip into the Bet Builder and package up Aston Villa to Score, Youri Tielemans to Commit a Foul and Over 2 Match Cards at 4/5 (Bet 365).
Whilst Villa's strong home form seems to have deserted them of late, they do tend to make the net bulge more often than not when playing in front of their own supporters.
Admittedly, Unai Emery's side blanked in their last home match against Tottenham, however they had struck in each of their previous 26 top-flight home games and they can rediscover their scoring touch against a Wolves side that is far from watertight.
Gary O'Neil's guests have only managed to silence their opponents in five of their 28 league games this season, conceding at least once in 12 of their 14 top-flight road trips to date.
With that in mind, I'll back Aston Villa to strike on Saturday, but to boost the odds, I'll also go with Youri Tielemans to make a minimum of one foul during this dust-up.
The Belgian – who racked up four fouls in his last outing at West Ham – is expected to drop back and be operating at the base of Villa's midfield on Saturday and is therefore likely to be in the thick of the action.
Given that there isn't much love lost between these two clubs, I'll round off the 4/5 (Bet 365) Bet Builder with a minimum of three match cards.
Both of these sides are averaging in the region of 2.5 bookings per-game respectively so I'm more than happy to back the two rivals to deliver a combined total of 3+ cards in a fixture which tends to see sparks fly.
Elsewhere, I'll also head to the anytime goalscorer market and back Ollie Watkins to notch at 23/20 with Ladbrokes.
With 16 goals to his name, Watkins is the second top scorer in the English top-flight this term and he looks like a nice spot of value to add to his tally against a Wolves side that are susceptible to conceding goals.
