Arsenal vs Brighton and Hove Albion

, KO: 14:00 Dec 17, 2023, Emirates Stadium
Brighton and Hove Albion

ARSENAL will be looking to get their Premier League title bid back on track with a win over Brighton and Hove Albion but won't get it easy against Roberto De Zerbi's great entertainers.

Liverpool knocked the Gunners off the summit last weekend as a 1-0 defeat at Villa Park ended a six-game winning run in all competitions for Mikel Arteta's side.

There's a massive clash at Anfield looming just before Christmas for Arsenal but first they must take care of a Brighton side who can cause huge problems for any side.

Arteta rested most of his big hitters for the midweek Champions League dead rubber with PSV Eindhoven but the Gunners still managed a creditable 1-1 draw on a frustrating night for our man Mark.

Arsenal have also had two days more to prepare for this game than Brighton and Hove Albion, who brought the curtain down on their maiden Europa League group campaign against Marseille on Thursday night.

Juggling domestic and European football for the first time had the potential to disrupt Brighton's Premier League form but they've made a decent fist of it and head into the weekend just seven points off a top-four place.

De Zerbi has heavily rotated his squad yet results have still been good, with the Seagulls only losing once in the league since a 2-1 defeat at Manchester City in mid October that brought up a bet for Mark.

You're always guaranteed thrills with Brighton and Hove Albion, with BTTS landing in every Premier League game so far, and De Zerbi will set his side up to attack the Gunners.

How the bookies view it

Arsenal have been strong at home all season and their best price here is just 1/2 at Midnite. Brighton and Hove Albion are as big as 6/1 with BetMGM and that looks a bit overpriced while the draw pays 4/1 at Bet365.

Recent head to head

Brighton have won on their last three visits to the Emirates and have been a bogey team for the Gunners of late, losing just three of the last 12 meetings. They romped to a 3-0 victory at Arsenal's home in this fixture last term.

Players to watch

Bukayo Saka got a welcome breather in midweek but you'd imagine the winger will be pitched straight back in for this one. Saka is 15/8 at William Hill to add to his eight-goal tally this season while Bet365 price him at 5/2 for an assist.

It's hard to predict who will start in attack for Brighton and Hove Albion given De Zerbi has chopped and changed his side so much. But Joao Pedro usually gets the nod for the bigger games and the in-form Brazilian looks overpriced at 21/5 at Unibet for anytime scorer.

Anything else catch the eye?

With Brighton having such a great recent record at the Emirates, it's tempting to back them in the double chance market at 7/4 with Unibet, although the exertions of Thursday night probably play a role in that bet being available at such a good price.

Going for goals is usually the safest option with De Zerbi's side but BTTS is just 31/40 at Betway here while over 2.5 strikes is even shorter at 3/5 with Unibet. Combining those pics in a bet builder will take you to 21/20 at Bet365 and that looks worth a punt.

Two of the three meetings last term hit double figures for corners so it could pay to back over 10 flag kicks in this one at 5/4 with Bet365.

The Seagulls always have a go so I like the 11/10 available at Unibet on them having over 3.5 shots on target. The same firm also have Joao Pedro at 5/4 just to get a shot on target and that also looks good.
