AC Milan vs Inter Milan

, KO: 19:45 Nov 7, 2021, San Siro
Inter Milan

A thrilling contest is expected as AC Milan face city rivals Inter Milan in the first derby of the season. Both clubs are firmly in the title race this term and are always stirred up for a feisty contest.

AC Milan warmed up for Sunday’s derby with a 1-1 draw with Porto in the UEFA Champions League. They salvaged a point on Wednesday thanks to Chancel Mbemba's unfortunate own goal and remain winless on the continent after four matches.

The good news for manager Stefano Pioli is that AC Milan seem a completely different team whenever they play in Serie A. They are still unbeaten this season and are level on 31 points with Napoli at the top of the table.

AC Milan have won their last seven Serie A matches and claimed a 2-1 victory over Roma in their previous fixture. They raced to a two-goal lead through Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Franck Kessie before the capital club pulled one back in injury time.

It has not been a particularly smooth title defence for Inter Milan, who are playing catch-up to Napoli and AC Milan. After A few stumbles in recent times, they appear to be returning to their best form.

The Nerazzurri head into Sunday’s clash with four wins from their last five matches across all competitions. A Joaquin Correa brace gave them a 2-0 victory over Udinese last time out in Serie A while they also triumphed 3-1 at Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League.

The one sore spot in Inter Milan’s recent resurgence remains their defence as they have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven matches across all competitions.
